Tried this morning. Hustling back right now to order more.
Going to buy more! The Walnut is a dream color on pine. Wiped it on, one coat. Bang! Looks like an even, deep, slightly warm (toward red, not yellow) walnut, no prob. And drys so fast! No vapors! Water clean-up! But best of all, sometimes other stains on pine, you get a blobbly, blackish-grayish mess. Not with this stuff! Going to do another coat later, an overcoat in a lighter, yellower tone. While the Walnut is perfect on its own, my house has a bunch of molding that have a goldish tone, along with some orangish red. So happy to have found this brand of stain. My huge assortment of oil-based stains are going out the door. Color quality: Spot on Finish: Smooth, deep, even, matte, no sheen…Leave it as it is or do poly and it will look fabulous Sanding ability: Easy Product quality: Superior Stain quality: Superior

Excellent stain
Color - Antique Walnut. Excellent stain - easy to work with. The box I am staining is made of scrap wood with an uneven pattern. In some areas the wood is much darker and has a red hue. I suspect parts of it might be made of entirely different kind of wood. So I was concerned it would come out "striped & spotted". Used Minwax pre-stain to minimize the blotching effect and surely it helped a lot. But it also accentuated the unevenness in wood which was alarming. It wasn't just the color, I could see the difference in wood pattern and density as well. And all of it showed up conspicuously after the 1st coat of stain. To even it up on the second round I stained only lighter parts with a small brush, went around a few times and then let it sit overnight. The next day did the whole procedure again - stained the whole box, then touched up lighter parts. And it came out beautiful. I was lucky to pick up a lighter shade of Walnut (antique). It allowed me to put quite a few coats on without going too dark. Antique walnut color is absolutely gorgeous; it has a lot of natural gold tones in it. And I was able to build up a darker shade by applying more stain. Love the results. Cleaning the working table with a wet paper towel was a breeze, there is no odor, no fumes, and it dries rather quickly if you wipe the stained object with a dry cloth. Definitely recommend this product.

Gorgeous Color, Easy to Use, No Smell!
My husband and I made a king-sized headboard for our bed. We bought B-Board from Home Depot, had them cut it to size, grabbed some matching trim and used the SamaN for stain. I did this paint job outside. There was barely any smell at all. After I sanded the pieces and brushed the sand dust, I used a piece of an old towel to apply the turquoise stain and another to wipe off the excess stain to reveal the grain. I was able to do one coat on each piece of wood. It dries quickly, within a minute. Once all the pieces were stained, I used SamaN white stain to whitewash the turquoise a little, again with a clean old towel to apply the stain and another to wipe the excess. You can see the result in the indoor shots, first few photos. Once again, it dried very quickly. We thought the color was too bright for our room so I came up with a solution. I applied Paine’s Grey acrylic paint color to some of the grain to have it stand out more with a craft brush (I used a round, number 2 if I remember correctly), using just a little water and wiping with yet another towel where necessary. At other points I did not wipe the grey, just applied with a brush. It took awhile. Knowing this ahead of time, I mixed the grey with a paint retarder because acrylic dries fast. After I finished the grey, I touched up a few spots by applying a teeny bit of stain here and there. Paine’s Grey is a bit transparent so it’s a good color to do highlights of the grain. I used just a little of my Liquitex brand but one could use any brand. I let the whole thing sit until the next day but it’s not necessary because the SamaN doesn’t need to cure! It goes on smooth, dries fast and looks beautiful within minutes. The fact that I used relatively cheap B-Board made it more labor-intensive applying the stain because of the occasional little splinter. Just a few spots but enough to be a pain. I would choose a more expensive wood next time that sands smoother. Please wear rubber gloves otherwise your palm will be turquoise. No worries though! I got quite a bit on one hand and it came off with warm water and soap. That’s what is great about water-based paints! My husband installed the piece using screws, 4 small L-brackets for the bottom to support the weight a bit, and tiny finishing nails for the trim with flat heads. It came out beautifully. The first two photos of the finished headboard are at night with the wall lamps on. The last photo was taken in daylight. The photos don’t do the headboard justice. This handmade headboard would be $700-800 in a store or shop. We did it for under $100 all told. Love this stain and will use it again and recommend to others.

New favorite stain
Great, rich color (perhaps a little darker than I expected) in one coat and no drips. Dries quickly but still has plenty of workable time to wipe excess. Can't speak to whether it raises the grain very much as the wood didn't have the strongest grain. Cleanup is a breeze compared to some other big name store water-based brands, and it has only a very slight alcohol scent that dissipates quickly. It did bleed a little into the poly I was using and slightly dyed it as it applied it, but it may have been an issue with the poly or the wood, and the end result is still fantastic. I just wish it was a little cheaper. (One picture is without poly and the other with.)

My favorite wood stain, goes on easily with a stain pad or brush. You can apply multiple coats for a darker color. Very watery so takes a little practice to not get runs

The Picture is the regular WALNUT colour. I discovered this water-based odour free wood stain a few years back when I built a bed frame from scratch. It is absolutely amazing, especially for those living in apartments without a workshop. Other oil based stains stink immensely. Even days after curing. Saman is an absolute breeze. No smell, easy clean up with some warm water. Very forgiving when applying. Perfect for beginners. If you make a mistake with a drip or an overlap, just reapply and rub it in vigorously... it blends in so well. I have used it with a primer and without. As long as the product is sanded properly, save your time and don;t apply a primer, just a finish. I also used the satin finish (clear water based) by Saman. The only reason this is not 5 stars is because the products arrived leaking (not the fault of the seller). I ended up buying the Walnut elsewhere as I needed it before the next order could arrive. Additionally, the colours are very difficult to figure out base don pictures. I strongly recommend viewing the videos on the Saman Youtube channels, and pictures provided by customers. Here is some help with colour: Dark walnut is VERY dark, 2 coats is almost chocolate/espresso/black (like the Ikea dark brown) Walnut (regular) is like the picture above: 1 coat. 2 coats is much darker, but you see an auburn undertone Antique walnut: drastically lighter than the above, more of a neutral brown and to get it to a true brown you need like 4 coats Rosewood: don't let the pics mislead you, it is super red undertones, closer to burgundy. Hope this helps someone out there.

This product was awesome and easy to use. I ordered the biggest size container and honestly didn’t have to - you only need a little to gain the affect you want! I had never used stain before and like I said it was so easy. Wipe on, wipe off. With it being water based it didn’t stain my hands (though I did put on gloves in case). It upgraded my kitchen island sooo nicely. Like - it went from ugly and blah, to decor magazine in about 25 mins. Dries fast and no harsh smell (which was a bonus because I have cats and an 8 month old baby). Loved it so much I’ll be using it on my counters next!! Highly recommend... I had no previous experience using stain and it went flawlessly. Buy it!
