Very high-quality receptacle with built in surg protection. Easy to install. This receptacle has gotten some bad reviews because it only has one terminal screw on each side for the line and neutral connections. That is by design, since the terminals aren't meant to be used by wrapping the wire around the screws. There are two small holes under the terminals that the striped wires are to be inserted in and then the screws tightened down. You can use just one or both holes depending on if you have a continuing circuit or not. These are not push in connectors. The screw must be tightened, or the wires will just fall out. There is a convenient strip gauge on the back of the receptacle showing how much insulation should be removed from the wires before inserting the wires into the holes.

Good wall outlets & with a small helpful indicator LED. Easy to install if you are handy. MUST HAVE A GROUND PRESENT OR THE PROTECTION WILL NOT WORK.

I installed this receptacle behind my wall mounted TV. I liked that it was black so that it would blend in more with the mount and the cords. I hope that I will never need to utilize the "surge protector" function but I do appreciate the light on the outlet to tell me its "protected." The product picture makes it look like the wall place is also a matte black color but in reality it is a glossy black with the outlet itself is matte.

I needed Surge protection for my refrigerator. The computer in the fridge died most likely because of a power surge according to the Internet. A new computer was a few hundred dollars so I bought this surge supresser as a little insurance. So far no issues.

I usually buy Leviton receptacles because of their quality and the back wire availability. I installed a whole house surge protector so these are secondary and backup for specific outlets where you plug in electronic devices. Per the installation flyer, they do offer a little downstream protection for receptacles wired in parallel on the same circuit. TR receptacles are now required by NEC for most applications.

Used for a client that had specific need for additional surge suppression in his electrical system to protect equipment. It was very good quality and so far no issues and client was happy. Recommend the device for those applications.

I'm giving this 5 stars because it does what is supposed to do. It works. Surge protected outlet for indoor radiant fireplace.

Easy to install, aesthetically pleasing option compared with surge bars, price is economical. I will be buying more of these for point of use surge suppression!
