Just buy it. This thing is great. It turns any hard ice right into fresh snow. Get some help to turn your bowl as you grind.

I purchased this machine to make snow cones for a kids party. This is seriously an industrial style machine. We purchased bags of ice and scooped it right into the inlet and it's shaved in a second. Beautiful fluffy snow cone ice, and i know we will get tons of use out of this machine for a long time to come. Although it does have a safety mechanism that turns the machine on when the handle goes down, it can be manually moved from the outside so I would say that this machine should not be used by children unless directly supervised. I believe the mechanism should be shielded in some way. There are three large blades inside that spin very fast and the mechanism (spring switch) can be lifted while the handle is up exposing the spinning blades, and I know how kids are... In any case the machine is otherwise safe and easy to use. It works great at the edge of a sink or somewhere that lets the melted ice (water) drain away from the machine. Just due to the nature of making shaved ice, it melts quickly and creates a puddle. We loved this machine, it makes the best ice we have ever had, but there is room for improvement safety wise if kids are involved!

It works as advertised and produces small or large ice pieces (not cubes). Easy to use, and has an audible, but low noise level. We just put the water in, set the appropriate settings and let it go to work. It stops when the water level gets low so there are no wet accidents. The price is good for the benefit derived. Glad we bought it - wrestling with ice cube trays is not my favorite thing to do.

Works well and fast. I would like a little more like ice chips. My grandkids like the snow cone effect.
