JBL Charge 5 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker - Black (Renewed)

The media could not be loaded. I ordered my JBL Charge 5 as a refurbished item to save $50. To my surprise when it arrived, it was brand new. While the original serial number had been covered with a sticker, the sticker said “new”.Opening up the package it was evident that it was indeed new and untouched. Pulling out the JBL charge 5 and powering it up, it immediately went into Bluetooth discovery mode, making it easy to pair my iPhone with it. After a quick test to make sure it worked perfectly, I then installed the JBL portable app on my phone. After installation and allowing the app to discover the speaker, it notified me of a software update. The software update was simple and only took about four minutes.I previously had a JBL Charge 3 and it served me well for many years. The JBL charge 5 is a huge improvement over previous models. While the device is larger, almost like the length of a football, it is still easy to carry and easy to store in a backpack.Playing some of my favorite reggae music through the speaker demonstrated the power of the base in the device. Passive radiators on each end of the charge provide pleasing base that fills the room nicely. The charge is advertised to have 40 W of power, and I believe it has every watt as advertised.Physically, the Charge has easy to use buttons across the top. Interestingly, some of the buttons almost appear to be decorations like the plus and minus for raising and lowering the volume. It indeed looks like the device is waterproof and dust resistant. The bottom of the JBL charge has a rubber strip anti-slip pad on it. It will be interesting to see how those grips hold up after a period of use.I’m taking the JBL charge to the beach this weekend. It will be interesting to see if the battery life is as advertised.All in all I highly recommend the JBL charge 5. Awesome sound at an affordable price.

This is literally Top Notch Mint condition Speaker. There’s no way this can be called refurbished/renewed. This is open box or New. The box is in mint condition , no scratch , no scuff literally nothing. The unboxing gives new feel . It comes with the original charging cable and paper. The speaker itself looks so flawless to the point . It’s easily called new. already came with 80% battery in the box , easy to use. (First time buying a jbl speaker so the speaker is quite bigger than I thought but it’s cool. “ SO GO AHEAD AND SAVE LIKE 40+ $$ instead of buying new for 140$ . (sound quality is Great!!)

The sound is really good. This is one of the best ($100-150) portable speakers I've owned. Bass is rich and its loud enough for what i use it for.Battery life- I've only charged it once. it lasts a long time

After reading reviews (on Amazon and other sites) on middle-weight BT speakers, I settled on the JBL Charge 5. Lots of battery life. LOTS of loud, clear, deep musical sound. Easy to pair to my iPhone. This speaker comes with and charges via USB-C cable, one of my pre-requisites (I'm trying to narrow down the gaggle of cable mess in my drawers and bags!). I'm super happy with the sound quality and quantity. I take it to our outdoor pickleball courts and everyone on all four courts can hear the music clearly. The speaker is big enough to have great sound. It's small enough to toss into my racket backpack along with all my other stuff.I gave this speaker a 4-star rating because it's missing some fairly common features that other speakers in the same price category come with, like microphone for taking phone calls on speakerphone and built-in "smart" assistant.I saved some money by going with a "Renewed" device. The description states: "This product is in "Excellent condition". The screen and body show no signs of cosmetic damage visible from 12 inches away." Well...not exactly. That certainly wasn't the case with the first unit they shipped me. I got a speaker that appears (quite obviously from 12 inches and beyond) to have "survived" its first life in the back of a oil rig work truck that was driven down long, dusty, back-country, gravel roads. It was scuffed up and dirty. I immediately submitted for a replacement unit. The 2nd unit was in much better shape with only a few minor scuffs on one end. Everything works just like new, so no complaints over performance.If having a microphone for speaker-calls or built-in digital assistant (Alexa, Siri, Hey Google, etc) isn't a must-have, then this speaker is a 5-star unit in every way.

I had the first and second GEN they were great. It was years ago. The build quality is really good. Went to the App Store. Downloaded the JBL app for the equalizer. (Bass, mid, treble) It’s very basic but it’s ok. Needed something somewhat smaller and a little more portable between the garage the house the pool it’s a good choice in my opinion. I would purchase again.
