Blackened Black Winter Humbucker Set - Electric Guitar Pickups, Perfect for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal

Installed them on my Eart gw2 since the stock pickups were Gibson styled and I mainly play metal. Very high output for a passive set. Sounds great dirty or clean. Easy install also, came with a detailed diagrams.

These pickups are tight in the low end. They can be bright if you are putting them in a thin swamp ash body. I definitely think you will want to stick to a darker sounding tonewood like mahogany. Another thing I noticed is I had to change from a boost pedal to an overdrive pedal in my application. I am running Mesa Mark V and EVH 5150 Iii heads. The black winters can get metallic and a bit thin with like a Fortin grind or 33 boost. At least on these heads. So I had to revert back to the Maxon 808 for a clean boost. It might not be that way with an amp like a dual rectifier that needs the extreme bass cut. All in all they are awesome and brutal. I put them in a PRS CE24 .

Neck pickup is so good. Get it now . It works for clean , blues, metal. It’s never muddy or mushy.

I was already a big Seymour duncan fan, but had never played the black winter set, and was very excited to do so. I purchased these blackened edition to put in a signature petrucci model so high gain was a must! And these have it , in spades!! However, I was not prepared for how amazing they are clean! No kidding, this set has a lot of range. And are now a serious contender with the jb4 and 59 as my (go to) set!!

I have an Ltd ec-10. Which sounds good but I wanted a bigger sound and to mod it. I started with the pickups and pickup rings. I was torn between the jb set, the Nazgul set and black winter. After researching and reading reviews I went with the black winter set and the blackened ones to to make the red rings pop more. These pickups make this guitar sound like a 1000 dollar guitar. It’s loud and clear, bright and punchy. Definitely not just for metal. They sound great clean too and bluesy. Very versatile set. I’m extremely happy with these. I’d compare them very close to active emg but if your guitar is set up for passive humbuckers go with these. Just buy them!!!!

I was on the fence about getting these but it took my stock Epiphone Explorer to the next level! The stock pickups were very mushy and had no tone. These black winters are way more clear than my other guitar with EMG’s and really cut through in a mix. This was my first set of Seymour’s and won’t be my last! They work perfectly for black metal tremolo picking (Dissection, Satyricon etc) and chords but also for palm muting, Lamb of God style songs too. Very versatile.
