Buy this if you want the definitive account of Tang Imperial History
Of all the books I've read on the Tang Dynasty of China and its enemies, this is by far the most comprehensive. Denis Twitchett is a genius and I don't think there's any denying it. This book is exhaustive, and I do mean that. At 800 pages, you will get a detailed view of the history of the Tang. I've read 33 books on this topic by now, and I would recommend this one if you want the definitive account of Tang Imperial History.
