Kiss & Tell (NEW SPECIAL EDITION)

A more appropriate title would have been "Ace and Tell"
I don't think anyone will sit down with this book and expect something akin to Tolstoy and as well they should not. Liken it to sitting down with the National Enquirer. The light and admittedly captivating stories volley back and forth between 2 of Ace's best "friends" in the old adage "with friends like these, who needs enemies" category. Juicy stories are thrown out one after the other and it may be harder to look at Ace the same way, but given that much of his antics have been well documented, it's not totally shocking. What IS interesting is how both authors are very eager to enlighten readers about many of his abhorrent actions yet both refuse to take responsibility in their role in many of the escapades. For example, read the story about the naked, passed out girl that they all took turns defiling and documenting it along with the way. The author charmingly refers to her body parts as something very crude and admits his girlfriend stood by and chuckled sympathetically while a group violated an unconscious women. Save a casual "I know it was wrong" statement here and there, neither man accepted responsibility for his own actions; just to sling the mud at Ace. The crudity not withstanding, the book is admittedly hard to put down. The authors assure us that by the end we will understand why they ultimately decided to throw their "best friend" under the bus but one of the authors failed dismally to do so. While Mr Gebert's vindication for writing the book may be understood, Mr McAdam's is unclear. If Mr. Gebert's statements are correct and likely there is some truth to it, one can see why he wanted to stoop to the level of the person he was lambasting if not simply to earn back some money and his muddied name from Ace. Mr McAdam's motives, however, do lead one to scratch their head as to why he would do this. Other than wanting to sever ties with an old friend whom he should have cut off long before if Ace was truly the one responsible for all the negativity in his life, including his divorce, he provides no just reasoning. Nor does he provide clues as to why he was "best friend" to a man he describes as so loathsome for so long. I guess conclusively we can understand why the friendship did not stand the test of time..............because Ace's fame and money did not stand the test of time. Largely the critical reviews I have read have been unfavorable (and with the sophomoric writing style and obvious grammar errors as well as unsubstantiated facts, it's easy to see why). However that does not stop it from being a guilty pleasure that is just impossible not to enjoy!!!

Acetards This is a must have book From truthfull authors
Great book by Award winning author Gordon Gebert and Boby McAdams. If you want to know the truth about knucklehead Ace Frehley then this book is true. This book is 100% true and has been endorsed by Gene Simmons. The authors are telling tbe truth and deserve to be acknowledged. If you are a snowflake Acetard you are going to need your tissues from crying about Ace being a train wreck

If you didn't already know Ace - here it is!
It's easy to understand why Gebert and McAdams feel the need to get back at Space Ace. Indeed, it's well justified and makes for an enjoyable read. But on the other hand, fans who have been following KISS closely will likely know that Ace is a bit ... out there, and thus the Ace bashing in this book becomes a little tiring after a while. But why not, really? The recent Ace autobiography "No Regrets" skips huge areas of his story altogether, and although one of the authors of "KISS & Tell" is pictured inside the Ace book, I can't recall reading either of their names there. "KISS & Tell" explains why. This is a great companion piece to Ace's "No Regrets" and Gene Simmons' "KISS and Make-Up", and taken together these books give a very good insight into Ace's major character flaws and balance out the self-important delusions that still plague Ace in his sixties. (C.K. Lendt's "KISS and Sell" would also be a part of the big picture and offers insight into Ace's character as well.)For the KISS nerd, there might be a few things to question, from very minor factual errors to the more serious things, like the allegations that business managers Marks and Glickman ripped KISS off and got away with it. I can't claim to know the truth about the latter, but court papers say that the stream of claims and counter claims were settled out of court, so Simmons lies when he states that KISS sued their business managers and won. They didn't.In sum, this book is essential (and dirty) insight into the Space Ace's life and career, and indeed how very little in his career has been the result of his own dedication to work - Ace is usually slouching drunkenly on the shoulders of giants. That fact is pretty much old news by now, but you've probably never heard the story from this particular perspective.

Well Done!
Very well written. The reason? Objective references and dual perspectives. NOT a book about a rock and roll wanna be. Two people who were sizzled on either side of rock n roll successand lived to tell about it. Two people who have literally saved Ace's life, more than once. I only hope Ace cares enough to have saved his own.

Gordon and Bill spin some fun tales but a lot of them are just that
first off believe about half of what you read in this book. Gordon and Bill spin some fun tales but a lot of them are just that. His story about jamming with Motley Crue and Ace is totally a lie ( PROOF: [...], so it only makes you wonder how much more of it isn't true either.

It's OK
Poor old Gordon - you're just a starstruck loser! You actively sought out stars. You meet one. You hang on for the ride and enjoy the fringe benefits and then when things go wrong you get all catty and write this.As for Bob. You hung around for the ride when Ace was on top of the world. You shared the fun - drugs, girls, parties, etc, and all for free. Ace takes you on an all expenses paid trip and you have the hide to complain he didn't pay you?? What a loser. Just finished readinf the Chris Lendt book - I think he describes you when he talks about Ace being very generous to the friends he had back in the Bronx and that these friends took all they could get.

shock me! Ace is a screw up!!! doh! like we didnt know!
Another sad pathetic cash in on the coat tails of a rock legend(a fallen one,no doubt about it). What do you get when you combine two pathetic losers and a egomaniac junkie, yep thats right this book.Like 'Into The Void' this book is the pathetic ,self serving rantings of two delusional men, unable to comprhend that they alone are responsible for their lack of success/self esteem etc, however rather than accept that, they use Ace(who admittedely appears to be a pathetic ,shallow individual) as the person to blame. What comes across loud and clear is the author(s) lack of intelligence, too let yourself be put upon so many times, used continuously, humilated, dumped upon, wow what kind of fool are you?Clearly an attempt to make money off of Ace's name, this would appear to collaborate much of what Wendy Moore's book 'Into The Void' said.It certainly explains why Ace's career outside of KISS is so shambolic and why he will never re-enter rock stardom.Like a car crash you dont want too look but you do,this book is sad reading, its not nice to realise a hero you had growing up,is such a loathsome character,it will certainly be interesting reading Ace's own book 'No Regrets' due next year 2011.Its hard to say this book is entertaining, its not even compulsory for a KISS fan, there's no real enjoyment just a sense of sadness.

Only buy this if youβve got $10 to spare.
I love everything about this band and can never get enough new content but this book is overrated.Having read other reviews, I was really expecting a ton of interesting stories but I found that these fell flat. The spelling mistakes and poor grammar are embarrassing. The stories are barely stories. There were two that made me laugh; some that are repetitive; others that barely constitute as sentences.I read the whole thing in under two hours. A lot of fluff.

I enjoyed this 'cut and paste' slapdash book
I enjoyed this 'cut and paste' slapdash book. It spills the the proverbial rock beans all over Ace, and to be honest, he gets the full treatment. You can understand just how infuriating he was to everyone around him. He indulged far too much into the world of drink and drugs and practically ruined everything! But that's the way he was, and currently in 2015 seems to have sorted himself out. Shame he had to lose his friends (and band) along the way.....

OMG
Hilarious, a little sad. Fantastic insight into Ace Frehley's life. Fully support the authors reasoning behind putting this together too.
