Arches is the best w/c paper i've found and still affordable somewhat. I even use it for practice as i have not found a practice paper that responds like a quality paper like arches.

Best of the best paper. I didn’t realize that my difficulties with watercolor painting was that my “cellulose” paper just didn’t allow me to go back and manipulate the paints. This pure cotton paper makes painting a joy…great for wet-on-wet techniques because it holds water. I live in the mountains with very low humidity, so this definitely makes it easier to paint.

Received with Amazon Prime, from National Art Supply 100% rating. I'm an amateur, but I do spend a lot of time on my paintings. Although this paper seems on the pricey side & it took a while to receive, it is WELL WORTH it. I am very pleased with the results. I tend to overwork my paintings and can't believe, not only how strong it is but how well it takes my overworking. (Received the pad with a bend in the cover, & only in a plastic bag. Disappointed, I thought it the paper inside would be damaged, but thankfully it was in perfect condition) I'll try to enclose a photo. Thank you.
