I have 23 (count them!) very expensive Hunter-Douglas Powerview window blinds. They are without a doubt the worst consumer purchase I have ever made. What was intended as a one-time home improvement project has become virtually a daily maintenance and repair chore. Even out of the box, they simply don't work reliably. At least half of my blinds have been returned to the maker for major repair -- at my expense when they fail outside of the warranty period.Now for the good news: this nifty little $20 110 volt AC to 18 volt DC power supply is a great substitute for use when the blinds start to chew through AA batteries or rechargeable battery wands every few weeks. They are an absolute must for the longer H-D blinds, which don't operate well on battery power even when they are new. Hunter-Douglas offers a similar power supply for $80, but the SMACVO units serve the same purpose for ¼ of the price.

If you have the "old style" Hunter Douglas shades that are not working, try using this power cord. Hunter Douglas does not service their shades anymore, and they do not sell this power cord. It was well worth my buying this cord for $30.00 vs. having to purchase all new shades for $8,000 to replace them! My shades look like brand new, and I think it is a shame and a waste that they do not value their customers enough to continue their servicing of that which they sold to me. Thank goodness for SMAVCO!

I'm very happy with this item. I rewired 3 Hunter Douglas shades to run off one power adapter. This is obviously way better than having to change 12 batteries per shade every once in awhile. Very happy with the product.

No liner need to use batteries.

This 18V AC/DC adaptor (A.K.A. wall wart) was received quickly (a little earlier than estimated). It works perfectly on our powered HD Duette honeycomb shade. No more needing to replace a dozen batteries multiple times a year. I can't speak to the longevity yet, but I expect it will last a LONG time. If we were going to be picky, we would probably prefer a different standard color than white (such as tan or black) - but it is what it is.
