This is a huge bag of xylitol. We were buying the small bags of birch xylitol, but went looking for something else due to cost. We are a family of three and all of us love yummy, sweet, creamy tea. I was not loving the sugar, though! My husband is diabetic and I was worried about my son having all that sugar. Sometimes I still use honey with my son, but my husband has completely switched to xylitol. After extensive research I think that I am okay using non-GMO corn xylitol. Honestly, I can't tell a flavor difference and the price comparison is huge. Pros: Very good value for your money! Great for families or people who do a lot of cooking. Bakes like sugar in the recipes we have done. It isn't quite as sweet as sugar and since we've been used to using it almost exclusively our taste buds have gotten used to it. Now, when I go out and I am offered a treat, or get one at a restaurant, I can't take the sweetness. I've gotten so I never eat dessert or snack on sweet things. I just don't like them anymore. I'm healthier and my husband is healthier. My son, who is seven, also never snacks on sweet things or even asks for them (with the exception of ice cream, sometimes). I think this is because he is used to not having them around. If he wants a snack he usually asks for things like crackers and goat cheese or fruit. I only mention this about my son because I have noticed that his peers are always snacking on really sugary things, things that now make my taste buds shudder. Cons: The large size is a bit unwieldy and the zip-lock type closure doesn't work very well, at least on ours. Since I am a stickler for not having our food open to the elements we have had to invest in a large container for food storage. The large, good quality, food storage containers are expensive, but it a one time cost. We also have a smaller container for general family use that we re-fill from the larger one. Overall: I will definitely buy this again!

Xylitol is awesome because it's natural, tastes good(not sickeningly sweet, not chemically, no aftertaste), glycemic index of nearly zero, less calories than sugar, and there are potentially some health and dental benefits. Personal anecdote/success story: The old A1C was creeping up there a bit. I eat healthy, don't have a sweet tooth, almost zero premade/processed foods, what's going on?!? I realized that most days, the first calories I get in the morning are the spoonful of sugar I put in my coffee or tea. Switched to xylitol for a few months, presto the A1C is back where it should be. This 15lb bag is good stuff, and the best $$/lb I've found. If you're just trying it out, start with a smaller bag in case you don't like it. Once you know you'll like it, this bulk bag is the best way to buy. Edit 3/4/19: If you're not used to this stuff, it DOES have some laxative effect! Dosage varies with person. I didn't notice anything with a spoonful per day in my coffee, but when my girlfriend made an apple pie with it we wound up eating WAY more xylitol in one shot than we normally would have. Oh my, that's not a lesson that will need to be learned again. I'd built up some immunity with my daily consumption in coffee, so the effect for me was "only" awe inspiring amounts of gas. I think I even impressed the dog. My poor girlfriend had no immunity at all and spent several hours in the bathroom. STILL five stars, as it normally doesn't do that and all the other non-sugar sweeteners I've tried have been artificial chemically obnoxious garbage, inedible.
