I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to
The puzzle has the quality you'd expect from Schmidt but the design, which is what attracted me in the first place, had it's problems when it came to doing the actual puzzle. The 12 panels feature many of the same elements, so it was hard to distinguish the pieces. The puzzle was extremely detailed but because it was split into 12 scenes, it was difficult to make out many of those small details. It didn't help that, either by accident or design, too many of the pieces seemed to be cut along colour boundaries. Even when I was down to the last couple of dozen pieces it was still not clear what went where. Finally, when the puzzle was done, there was little enjoyment in the artwork because the pictures were just too small to appreciate. Making a puzzle with perhaps 4 of these scenes blown up would have been better. That's just my opinion. The quality was excellent and there were no missing pieces.

Comme vous pouvez le constater sur la photo il manque 1 élément à ce puzzle . Ce qui est très frustrant quand on arrive à la fin . Autrement ces puzzles Smidt sont juste magnifiques 🙄

Schmidt Jigsaw Puzzle Review I decided to try to write a “thorough” review of this puzzle including some technical information. I am a stickler for puzzle “quality”. Finished puzzle is approximately 27 ¼ inches by 19 ½ inches. This is a cardboard puzzle with a grid / ribbon cut. The pieces come in a paper bag, which you can either re-use by taping it closed after you are done assembling the puzzle or else place the pieces in a sealable plastic bag. I punch holes in my plastic storage bags so air can circulate around the pieces in the box. Yes – there is puzzle dust. I do a four-step hand sift from the box bottom to the top and back and forth. That sifts most of it out. The piece cut is “clean”. Snug fit. The pieces are approximately 2.3 mm thick. The length of a piece is roughly 30 mm. The cardboard used to adhere the image is gray in color. The pieces are “sturdy” in that they are not soft and do not bend easily. Some of the piece prongs have a “hook” design and can easily become lodged in some of the “in” cuts on the pieces and be difficult to dislodge, so care should be taken to avoid puzzle lift when pulling the pieces apart. The image is printed on a semi-gloss linen type finish paper. If you want to see a true “matte” finish for a puzzle, I suggest you check out Antelope, Art & Fable, Blue Kazoo and Piece House for starters. They have absolutely no glare, sheen or whatever. Schmidt’s paper is similar to Ravensburger and Heye. The image reproduction is very sharp and clear. The color saturation is excellent. As you can no doubt conclude, I am a “shape sorter”. There appear to be about nine basic puzzle piece shapes – a standard shape, a shorter standard shape, double box, long castle, short castle, box with left prong, box with right prong, four outs, four ins. If you want to know more about this puzzling technique, I suggest you take the time to watch Karen Puzzles’ video about building a solid color puzzle. It is without a doubt, the best shape sorting video tutorial out there. I do not know if I will have to resort to too much shape sorting with this puzzle, as there is a lot of color / design differentiation to reference. I have had some puzzles where I have had to rely almost exclusively on shape sorting. At the writing of this review, I have completed assembling the border. This puzzle took 19 hours to complete, as I am one of the world’s slowest puzzlers. I am into puzzling simply for the enjoyment of seeing an image come together and for relaxation, stress relief. Sorry, speed puzzlers. For me, it is not about “winning”, it is about enjoyment. It seems that every puzzle manufacturer has its own line of artwork to choose from, and Schmidt is no exception. I am not a huge “Disney” fan, so . . . I sorted this puzzle before building - border, three major categories based on column - left, center, right and an extra category for pieces with "wood" texture, image. Built border, wood columns and horizontal dividing sections. Left a lot of pieces I could not immedately recognize in either of the three columns in a "miscellaneous" category. I use Tidyboss puzzle piece trays for sorting. I ended up "shape sorting" the final set of pieces. Summarizing, from a quality standpoint, Schmidt produces high quality puzzles, with thick, clean cut pieces, the image is sharp, and color saturation is wonderful. They have a wonderful artwork selection, and I am sure many puzzlers will be absolutely delighted with their offerings. If I would make one suggestion – it’s time to reduce the box size. Either make the box a little smaller or a lot smaller and include a poster. Resealable bags are nice, also. I enjoyed building this puzzle, and I hope many other puzzlers will try Schmidt puzzles. Definitely worth the investment. Warning: They are hard to find in America . . .

Schmidt is one of my favourite puzzle companies. Beautiful artwork and lots of intricate details that made putting this together take a little longer than usual.
