Bitsbox – Apposaurus Rex Kit

My family is in love with bitsbox. The kids like that it's colorful and easy to understand and I love that my six-year-old is coding with real code. We were part of a sample program to try out but bitsbox in the school district during a month of coding. After using bits box for just a few apps it was obvious what a great, intuitive, and easy program this is. Anyone can get onto their website and walk through a couple of simple apps to see how it works. The access to the online area is free for children. I know nothing about coding, but I was able to easily figure out how to code, and modify code, right along with the kids. We have purchased their monthly subscription and receive its box in the mail. We missed out on a lot of the boxes so I was so happy to see them here on Amazon. Each box contains a book filled with photos and instructions to make at least 12+ apps, sometimes as many as 25. Each box also suggested modifications to the apps so you can make your own, along with challenge questions to get your kids thinking and making apps of their own. Along with the book, is a toy that is applicable to the theme, stickers and water tattoos, and some other tool for supporting the kids coding (i.e. A notepad, a poster, collector cards with apps, etc.). I highly recommend this box, it is an excellent first place to start for young children. They generally recommend this for children ages 6 to 12. However, I find it funny even as an adult. Also, these boxes are about $10 less than you would buy if you had a monthly subscription. That makes these an excellent deal. Try it out!

My 9 year old daughter loved it! This is her second bits box (she saved up and bought this one herself). It is a great introduction to programing and also is helping her work on her typing. One of her favorite things about these sets is the ability to change things inside of the code. A robot game can become a Dino game. She can make almost any game end with an explosion. This is a great set for both learning and using creativity. We highly recommend it.

I got one of these for my nephew and in a few days time, he sent me a link to an application her wrote himself! I could not be more impressed with the speed with which he picked it up and the enthusiasm he displayed to continue.
