Plate Block of Four Stamps: New, Mint, US Postage Stamps ~ On June 12, 1950 in Washington DC; the US Post Office Dept. commemorated the sesquicentennial (150) anniversary of the Nation’s Capital, Washington (DC) with a four stamp series called the "National Capital Sesquicentennial Issue" to commemorate the occasion. This 3 cent dull green stamp, depicting an image of the White House, was the second issued of the four stamp series. Also included in this series is the Statue of Freedom on the Capitol Dome, the Supreme Court Building, and the United States Capitol. President Truman christened the celebration the "Freedom Fair"
