Excellent Product, Unbeatable Customer Care...
I recently purchased the Doxie Q. Having used a Doxie go-wifi before I am not new to the Doxie family. I have not written a review for the Doxiie gowifi when I received it nearly two years back as I rarely write reviews. Why am I writing it now when I have never written a review before ? Read on...There was a recent increase in mail and documents in my home which made me want to make it paper free completely, as I got fed up of seeing them over the past few months. So I went to my Doxie Gowifi to help me out which to be fair did the job briliiantly but I had a few observations:1. It was not duplex and hence had to scan it one side and one page at a time2. It consumed time but that was OK as i scanned while watching TVI am reasonably technical, but not a professional - I can understand a bit of computer jargon but might want help if I am stuck (this is my personality). So I started to look around and nearly shortlisted a few scanners with duplex facility and an ADF because my specific requirements were :1. Duplex facility2. ADF3. Should be able to be small enough to be on my work desktop4. No wires hanging around5. Wifi6. Price tag - moderateI buy only on Amazon - never anywhere else. So as I looked online, I went to each of the respective scanner websites and as part of this, I went to the Doxie website and was reading about Doxie Q. Suddenly out popped this chat window and their customer advisor asked if I needed help. And there began a conversation where I saw, for the first time, what customer care should be all about. I am not exaggerating but I believe credit should be given where it is due.He patiently took me through the Doxie Q, never pushing for a sale but made all the features clear, all though I was well aware ( I thought!!) then he also talked me through the 'interleave' feature of the Doxie Q. By then I was sold , not because of the product but because of the customer care. What ran in on my mind at that time was .. if the customer care is so good, I could atleast ask their help if I had problems. I already read about their customer care but I was seeing it first hand , live , in action. He also mentioned that the product was on offer during that period. The price wasn't really the matter as I was also considering a product ranging £350.Whilst he was online, I purchased the product from Amazon, purely because I was so impressed by the way he was going about his job , gave him the reference number. He followed up the sale, informed his colleague - She was brilliant taking it another step forward. She sent me two mails informing me of the progress every step of the way. That was topped by their Director sending me a personalised mail that they were there to help - You could see that it was not one of the routine template mails as the mail contained information of what was actually happening.I received the product , well packaged, on time as usual - Amazon has never failed me in the past ten years. Prime.. way to go!! What was described at the point of sale was what I saw and am experiencing. The product is fantastic, whilst I am still getting to grips with the interleave feature .. it does work, so no complaints. There is a video as well on the site. The refund was applied as promised.Any observations?Yes, the ADF has two small clips on the side and the paper gets occasionally caught while being fed in. It is not a gripe, it is something which you will notice at some point, but I can live with that.I have not described the product in full detail as other's have done a great job and the reviews all over the internet to a great extent are true .. it is a decent product, with much packaged in it and although is reasonably larger than a Doxie Gowifi is not huge as other scanners could be. It still looks good on your desk and is compact. What is the best feature of the entire experience in purchasing the product?Definitely customer care, because you can buy a similar or a near similar product for more or less the same price tag anywhere else. I am fully convinced that you might not receive the same level of customer care. Other's may/might be good or even excellent, but Doxie's customer care I believe is unbeatable, definitely. Why?I have always purchased online and have dealt with customer care over the years for other products. If I have taken the time to write about it when I have never written about any other product in ten years, I think that speaks for itself. In Summary, the Doxie Q is:1. Reasonably compact2. Comes with inbuilt Wifi3. Can still be carried around in your bag4. Has a case separately sold on Amazon ( if needed)5. Has a great feature - 'interleave' which steps in for the Duplex feature6. Imports well into the Doxie app7. Has an SD card feature if you need it8. Decent price tag9. Can hold its own against the competition10. Has fantastic Customer CareAny Cons:1. The foldable ADF could be stronger - appears weak and flimsy ( if you have toddlers and children keep away )2. Nothing can beat a Duplex - the Doxie Q has two extra steps in the scan process - but that will be fine once you master the 'interleave' as I have noticed in my experience.Would I recommend it?Defintely yes.Why did i write this ?Firstly, there will always be someone in a dilemna when choosing a product, like I was. Some might not realise that there is excellent customer care around. If you go to Doxie's website, the chat window pops out straight away. Just visit the site and your questions will be answered any time of the day.Secondly, when decisions are difficult price should not always be the decisive factor (although it is important). Excellent customer care should factor in the decision making process. That Doxie has in plenty !!All the best to you in your quest to make your home paper free.Thankyou Dennis and Alexandra.

A poor effort compared to the Go
I had a Go, which I really liked. Writing this review is upsetting because it involves accepting I've wasted upwards of £200 on something which has been neither well designed nor well made. There are several absurd problems:1) While importing from the Q on battery, it will turn off after one or two minutes. It does this even while an import is in progress. Why would you design it that way?2) Even when powered, the Q will automatically turn off after around five minutes. Every time you decide to make a cup of tea or get distracted during a scanning session, you'll have to turn it on again. The five minute setting cannot be modified.3) The power switch is a toggle switch, not a button. Look again at points 1 and 2. Can you see a design problem there? The fact this was not picked up during this product's manufacture speaks to the lack of care put into this product. Did a hardware designer even see these plans?4) The Q's Wifi connection frequently disconnects spontaneously. It must then be turned off and on again to reconnect.5) The scanner will frequently pull in the whole stack of papers into its maw instead of the bottom-most piece of paper. This makes scanning fun and interesting.6) Other times it will just decide not to eat any piece of paper, even when its paper triggers are clearly depressed. I am depressed too, paper triggers.7) No duplex scanning but that's in the description.8) The software for iOS is bare-bones and has slightly less design charm than coronavirus. I think it has been made by a freelancer who spent one hour a day on it and billed for eight.9) The lid, buttons, and paper guides are all flimsy.10) The macOS software cannot cope with exporting a stapled file of more than about 40 papers in a PDF quality of above around 6. They have to be unstapled, assembled into batches of around 25, exported, and then reassembled in Preview, contributing to the pressure on NHS mental health services. On the good side:1) The case is nice.2) The scanner looks pretty from about 30cm away.3) Apart from being unable to export documents properly, the macOS software is pleasant.

Ordered a new scanner - sent a customer return that does not charge - AMENDED REVIEW
**I am updating my review as Doxie got in touch to resolve this quickly. I was sent a replacement scanner which does work and scan quality is good. You can be reassured that Doxie back up their products with exceptional customer service. I have only given four stars because the software setup was not as intuitive as I would have liked but when trying to keep something small and portable I guess sometimes this can't be helped.**Really disappointed in Doxie and Co UK. The package arrived already opened with most of the protective packaging removed and the battery already activated. Clearly returned because when you try to charge the green light comes on momentarily then disappears again. Tried a different USB lead and there is clearly a connection problem with the scanner in the USB port. Not happy when paying brand new price! Returning.
