Great help
This whole series is superb. It gives photos of so many sphere of life, all with sharp, current looking photos, with great color quality. For the gym, it gives the names of many pieces of equipment, a great help for those who work out on vacation. the sections on foodare also excellent, showing real items you;d encounter on your trip. In each area of life, they;re better than the standard dictionaries. Each of us is has different languages needs, depending on what we like to do. This book really helps. No, it won't teach your grammar, it doesn't aim to. But it will teach you practical stuff you'll really encounter. Using photos is a very effective way to learn, for me at least. The series is great value for the dollar. This book makes the mistake of slipping in some Portuguese as in Portugal usages, when the vast majority of Portuguese speakers speak Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese withsugar, as some people say. It should revise itself to make sure everything is Brazilian Portuguese.Brazil is increasingly important economically and politicallyIt is a book I;d recommend to anyone headed to Brazil. And for those of you that aren't, start thinking about it.You'll love it.

Not just for kids!
This dictionary was purchased for my children's upcoming visit to Brasil. When it was delivered, they were both fighting over who would "get" this book until it was made clear it was household reference material!I like the fact that the pictures are clear and modern and are grouped by subject matter. For instance, if you are having a conversation about breakfast foods, you open the book to that page and are treated to a buffet of breakfast food items that are clearly marked in both English and Portuguese. The index is broken down into both languages - so if you are looking for a specific word to translate, it will direct you to the right page of pictures. This dictionary does not have any pronunciation keys, but hearing the word from a native is probably the best way to learn to actually speak a language. The size of the book is just right for travel. I would recommend using this in combination with a traditional, alphabetically organized language dictionary.

Picture dictionary interesting for all ages
I bought this to help with teaching my granddaughter Portuguese. My daughter and I reach for it everyday. Even my 2 year old granddaughter enjoys pointing at the pictures and repeating the words and phrases. The book is organized by areas instead of a classically alphabetical structure, which is a nice change. My only dislike is its size--I wish it was an inch or 2 taller.

Love it!!! Top Quality
This book is a visual dictionary and perfect for just about every need. The actual size is larger than a mass market paperback and smaller than a tradesize paperback making it easy to travel with. But what makes this book great (aside from the beautiful pictures) is that it is broken down into categories - many, many categories and on each page is a glossy photograph depicting a topic and most anything to do with that topic is identified in both languages. Don't know what that funny looking fruit is called, no problem. Look up the section on food, go to the fruits and vegetables and most likely it will be there pictured and labeled in both languages.I originally puchased this for my sister to help her with her English. She loves it and anyone who sees her with it ends up asking where they can get one and if it comes in other languages. And yes, it does!

The Best Portuguese-English Picture Dictionary I've Found!
This is loaded with vocabulary, even some I certainly didn't know. It is replete! The black lines pointing to items in the pictures is the one drawback I can think of--the lines to the items aren't always easy to see. This is the best picture dictionary for Portuguese I've found and I HIGHLY recommend it! As a gift, or for yourself, I don't see how someone could do better. There are about 300 pages with pictures, and there's a back section as well.

This is a Must Have :)
This is a fantastic dictionary! Everything, and I do mean everything, is clearly photographed and included in this book. It's amazing! Each photo includes both the name in Portuguese and in English. The list is staggering, but this book contains topically organized photos and names for articles of clothing, the professions, sports, parts of an airplane, car parts, bike parts, things to be found in an office, beans, fruits, meats, vitamins, body parts, tons of animals, and much, much more. The level of detail is incredible. It's ALL here! Amazon has a really great price for this book. So, if you are in the process of learning Portuguese, and you want an excellent dictionary, this is the one to have :)

Small and inaccurate
I was looking for a good visual dictionary but this one is small and so the font is small too. Some of the translations are not correct or do not match what’s on the accompanied app.Error example 1: book says jaw is “a maxilar” but when you go to the app to hear the pronunciation, it says “o maxilar.”Error example 2: page 14 says cheek is “a face” when it should be “a bochecha.”It would be nice if the book and app matched.
