Classic sword and sorcery at its finest - I highly recommend this to lovers of classic fantasy writing or as a first book for those interested in warhammer. I think of this series to Warhammer as the Drizzt series is to Forgotten Realms.This collection starts out as a series of loosely connected short stories featuring the human bard, Felix, and the dwarven slayer, Gotrek, as they adventure around the old world seeking out Gotrek's final doom. As such, the book showcases many different locations in the warhammer world, including ancient dwarven holds, wilderness, and the chaos wastes, as well as various empire cities and towns; for this reason, it offers the reader insight to the lives of many different peoples of the setting. The stories have moments of horror and comedy, character growth and somber reflection, and the writing feels very fluid and captivating. Fans of Dwarfs or Skaven will especially like this series.
