How To Recover From Pet Loss: Supporting You On Your Journey To Acceptance

Brilliant, eloquent, and wholly comforting.
Throughout my life, I've lost quite a few cherished pets and have never known quite how to process the grief and pain, there's little resources out there and most of the time, pet loss is trivialised by society. When I heard about this book from Wendy, I decided to pick it up for myself and see out of curiosity. Doing that is probably one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Wendy tackles the pain, loss, and grief of losing a loved animal with a comforting grace, using honesty and her experience as a pet bereavement counsellor to bring you a concise and wonderfully written book. A lot of the book feels like sitting down with an old friend and getting some much needed support and advice, and I love how each chapter helps you handle different aspects of what you're going through, so people from all walks of life can relate and have a better idea on what do do next. This book is staying firmly on my favourite books shelf and I cannot recommend it enough.

Helping to Heal
For anyone who has lost their beloved animal companion, this book is a must. It is written with a real sincerity from personal experience, but also provides practical advice and support to anyone facing overwhelming grief. The book explores the different stages of grief, allowing the reader to possibly understand why they are feeling the way they are at any given time. But what I liked best was the reassurance I felt; that there is a way through this journey, taking many positives from it, and ultimately helping to accept and heal after your loss.

A thoughtful, comforting book
This was a book I’d wish I’d had after the loss of my beloved 12 year old rescue dog who sadly was euthanised after having a stroke that left him brain damaged. Wendy’s book is so lovingly written it feels like you’re getting advice from a friend. There’s are lots of helpful hints and tips and it’s nice to see a chapter on how to help children cope, as they can often not now life without their special friend. A personable book which is heartwarming and should bring you some comfort during a difficult time.

You did all all you could for your best friend
This is an amazing book. I found this to be very reassuring and comforting. I thought when i lost my best buddy Bailey after nearly 13 years that i would never get over him. He was by my side through some really hard times. He came everywhere with me and i could never have imagined never mind the reality of never having him. After reading Wendy's book i could see things differently a better understanding. I never wanted Bailey to die and did everything to save him and the book made me realise this and brought me comfort. I have given my baby "Bailey" as his middle name and the things he does reminds me of Bailey. Definitely worth a read ❤

Review
I bought this for my sister following the loss of her dog. Feedback from her is that it bought back sad memories of the awful day she had to put her dog to sleep. I read all the reviews before I ordered and they were all very positive just wish I had read it before I gave it to her

This book explains so much
This book helped me a lot, even almost two years after losing my beloved cat, Colin. At the time, I didn’t understand the phases of grief that I was experiencing but this book made it all crystal clear. Even though I have a new cat that has helped heal my heart, I still miss Colin and I found the chapter on coping mechanisms to be helpful. I have a friend who lost her cat two weeks ago and I will definitely be recommending this book to her. If you have lost a pet, I definitely recommend this book.

A Helpful Handbook for those who have lost a pet
I purchased the kindle version as well as a hard copy. Thankyou Wendy for writing this book. I will be recommending it as a resource to my grieving clients. It contains practical advice for someone who has lost their everything. Wendy shares her own stories and experiences with her pet losses, so she has been through this too. Please know support is available and this book is a great place to start.

Crass at best, cruel at worst
A cash grab advertised in the worst way. She has the nerve to plug a buyable class she teaches in.

Some good info but...
Good information but Elizabeth Kubler-Ross’s work was developed when someone has received a terminal diagnosis and was not intended to be patched over to emotions we experience when grieving a loss.
