15inch Wood Hand Japanese Claw Rake NonSlip Rubber Handle, Military Grade Steel 5 Tine Cultivator Gardener for Pulverized and Aerated Soil

I am raising roses now, and need to cultivate not only around their roots, but also among them. I need a device that can drag out weeds for the root ball without disturbing the rose roots. The tines are spaced perfectly for this work, and with it, I can use one tine alone, or all together, and the roses reward me abundantly. This tool is designed to do the job well, and with a little care can reasonably be expected to last a life time. A good solid wood handle, well mounted to the high quality steel parts, and a convenient leather thong make this a tool a delight to use. I rate I with the Felco pruner: the best there is, a bit pricy, and always worth the price.

I really thought that this would work great in my new vegetable garden. Last year, I created a 12' x 6' vegetable garden using cinder blocks. I filled the area with several bags of topsoil then planted some veggies.Because of the constant rain that we get here in Hawaii, it doesn't take long for weeds to grow and become a nuisance, and instead of pulling them out by hand, I thought that this tool would be perfect for digging them out of the ground.Well, it didn't take long before one of the prongs broke and I haven't used it since!

. . . being the tool is most likely made in China or Taiwan. There is no label or imprinting of any kind to suggest where the tool is manufactured. That being said, the welding and construction of the steel claw looks to be well done. Rivets hold tight and are not crooked. What I like about the handle is it is really solid, tough wood with a glossy varnish finish; quite top notch. The problem with this - as other reviewers have noted - is the handle really gets slippery when wet so it's best to install one of those rubber grips like on tennis rackets. I would prefer a web on the splines but nobody on Amazon sells a claw like this, so I will have to look for it on my next rental car trip in Japan.

Took out immediately and used it.Did a good job . Few thoughts;1 triangular tines for cutting effect in clay soil ,2 perhaps slightly different curve to tines although current worked fine for me.

I used to have one with a shorter handle. The claw part of that one is excellent, very effective in loosening soil and digging up weeds, but its short handle is against the principle of leverage, wasting lots of my energy. I have been trying to figure out how to lengthen the handle for years. This one with a longer handle is a godsend for my solution. What an improvement!

This rake works so well, I’m glad I bought it. I’m using it to blend soils for my backyard containers and it really does the job! One issue, though.......those grooves cut in the handle? They are right where my hand grips this tool and they hurt my fingers. Do you have some way to cover them to make the rake more comfortable to use? That’s why the 4. Otherwise, it would be a definite 5.

I live in a place where rocks abound. I needed to dig out holes for plants, but the pick ax was heavy and unwieldy. My husband suggested this particular tool. After reading peoples' responses, I decided to order. Didn't think it would hold up, but it is amazingly sturdy and after digging many holes in mostly rocky soil, it is still strong and unbent. So glad I ordered it! Great little tool.

At first I was unsure but after I used it I soon found out that it is well made. I love to garden and I have R/A so sometimes after being on my knees I need a little help. This is well made and I have used it to help get up and it is holding up. Would buy another one if I ever need another but I don't see that happening. Maybe a gift for my sister.

It’s a quality product, however the leather strap in the picture was missing. It’s a good size. I engraved the handle and gave it as a retirement gift. It was well received.

I used this recently and it works great! It's made very well and I'm sure will last for many, many years.

The item that was sent was not as advertised and did not have a ergonomic grip handle as pictured. I am returning the item.

No rubber on the handle. Material not as described.
