Is there any way to have the front and rear mics separate to the left and right stereo audio?

Not unless you want to spend quite a few bucks for the external wireless mic systems. If you get the media mod and then add a small mic to that you can get some really good sound and then separate it out in editing. If you check YouTube there are some great videos that will help you out with different options for the camera.
