Patriot Burst Elite 120GB Internal SSD - SATA 3 2.5" - Solid State Drive - PBE120GS25SSDR

I purchased the Patriot Burst Elite 120GB SSD to use as a dedicated drive connected to my ASUS router running ASUSwrt-Merlin, primarily to store and run various scripts. I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance in this role!The speed of this SSD has made a significant difference in the execution time of my scripts. Tasks that previously took noticeably longer on a USB drive now complete much faster and more efficiently. This has really streamlined my home automation and network management processes.Setting it up through the ASUSwrt-Merlin interface was a breeze, and the router has had no issues recognizing or working with the drive. The reliability has also been outstanding – it's been running consistently without any hiccups.The 120GB capacity provides ample space for all my scripts, logs, and associated files. If you're an ASUSwrt-Merlin user looking for a fast, reliable, and affordable solid-state drive to enhance your router's capabilities, especially for running scripts or other demanding tasks, the Patriot Burst Elite is an excellent investment. It's a fantastic upgrade that has noticeably improved the performance and responsiveness of my setup.

Worked fine out of the box. Didn’t have to do any special partitioning to get it to work. Simply popped it in my ASUS laptop and booted from a windows 11 USB. I didn’t check the speed, but it’s way better than the old HDD. I’d absolutely buy another one to bring some life into old electronics.

Installed in my PC so that I could perform an optional dual boot but without having to take up any additional space on my pre-existing drive.So far seems fast, stable, reliable.

It will out-perform spinning disk any day of the week. Was unable to find if this contains dram but appears that if it does, it's very limited. After about 10GBs of write the performance plummets. Still though, it well outperforms spinning disks and other SSDs in it's same price tier. Not a bad option for cheap SSD storage.

Perfect budget upgrade for a 2014 Acer laptop. It went from slow as a dog to usable. Used the free edition of the MiniTool software to clone the 500GB hard drive to the smaller 240GB drive, and the SSD option to realign the blocks.

I don't know how likely it is in 2025 that anyone is going to put this in a current gaming rig given the small capacity and SATA interface, but I find them very useful for retro computers, sometimes with an IDE to SATA adapter. Much easier than messing around with used hard disks, and the performance is much better as well.Of course, if you are on a tight budget, this could work in your gaming rig as your operating system (Windows) boot drive to offer some performance increase while retaining your existing hard disks for games. I'd probably suggest going to 240GB for that though.Giving extra life to older computers is a good use - maybe you are fixing up a friend or relative's system that has a SATA hard drive in it still.
