Comfortable, but snug
This was recommended for CMC joint arthritis as there are no splints, plastic or metal, to rub against the joint. However, I needed to return it to get the next size up. Even though I measured it the velcro didn't reach the whole way on the medium. It seems comfortable, but I didn't wear it very long.

Works fine
This brace helps limit motion (though it doesn't stop it altogether) which keeps my arthritic base of thumb from getting angry. It provides some support but not a lot. It goes through the wash well. It's kind of a weird color, and is greener than my skin.

Moderate Support
Brace provides moderate support, but not as much as a hard brace. Easy to use. My hand seems to be in between a medium and large. Medium would not stretch far enough to engage properly and Large fits a little too loosely, but better than smaller size. Be sure to measure hand as instructed before ordering and error to larger size, if that’s an issue. I’m satisfied with this product, would recommend and buy again.

Great splint! Measure carefully to find your perfect size.
I was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the lower thumb joint and wrist. This is the splint recommended by my doctor and hand therapist. It reduces my pain by more than half, and makes it possible to function again, especially when open jars, chopping food, etc. This is my second purchase. When I started wearing my first splint all the time, I wanted a second one to wear when I'm washing the first. I first purchased a large, based on my measurement. It is plenty big, and the therapist suggested I could get by with a medium. But the medium is really too skimpy. I wish there was a size in-between medium and large, but there isn't. So I should have stuck with the large the second time, too!

Comfortable but lacks stiffer support I prefer.
This thumb brace was recommended by my hand surgeon. I like the fact that I can wear some gloves while wearing this brace (gloves that stretch) but it does not give me firm support that I need for my arthritis. Otherwise I can recommend this brace.

Has a bad chemical odor
This is what I don’t get. Ordered a Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint Patented Thumb Brace (medium plus-the shorter version) last week after a thumb joint arthroplasty and that brace was “returnable” and did not stink. Ordered another similar thumb CMC Restriction comfort cool brace a week later in size large because medium plus was not an option and the only differences were that this brace was longer, had an additional wrist strap, was non returnable and arrived with a strong chemical odor. Don’t get why one comfort cool brace is returnable while the other one is not even if it’s defective. I refuse to wear any brace with a bad chemical smell over a surgical incision esp after a joint arthroplasty! The policy needs to be changed and corrected. If no returns are allowed cause it’s a health issue why can I return the shorter comfort cool brace but not the longer one? How ridiculous and hypocritical of the return policy!

It's just what I needed.
It's very well made and very good.

Not great for stabilizing the CMC joint
I bought this on the advice of my hand surgeon to help minimize arthritic pain in the CMC joint of my left hand (the joint at the very base of the last bone of the thumb). My doctor explained that by minimizing thumb mobility it would help to minimize motion within the joint and, thus, help minimize pain as a result.I have strong hands with large palm muscles - which is not good when it comes to using this device which partially relies on elastic compression to help minimize/stabilize the thumb. The fact that the CMC joint is right below the palm muscle (the thick muscle on the underside of the hand at the base of the thumb which in my case is fairly large) and because this item relies partly on compression to stabilize that joint mean that the use of this caused added pain for me: Imagine putting compression on a substantial muscle under which a sore and painful joint is located. And for the record I measured my hand several times very carefully (as directed) to ensure I was buying the right size brace for my hand. According to the sizing instructions, my hand required a 'medium'. Perhaps a large would've been a better choice but then again if it is too loose it won't work as intended. I also tried to ensure that I wasn't overly tightening it when i put it on - but all to no avail...no matter what I did, this brace wound up causing added pain for me - not what I'd hoped for that's for sure.Another factor to take into consideration is that perhaps the degeneration of cartilage in my CMC joint has become too acute for a compression-style brace which is what I suspect to be the case with me. And if I'm correct in my own self-assessment (and I'm certain I am) then I feel my hand surgeon should have thought through a bit more carefully before recommending this brace (for the record, I'm no longer seeing that doctor).Furthermore, a rigid, custom-made, half-hand plastic brace that mu occupational therapist made for me is what wound up working for me was the very thing that doctor said I wouldn't 'like' because some of his other patients found it to be "too restrictive" yet I found that not only was that plastic brace far more comfortable, more importantly it was far more effective at minimizing my pain since it was more effective at stabilizing my thumb/CMC joint because it relies on rigidity and not compression to perform its intended function.I admit that although this item may have worked well for others, unfortunately in my situation and with my medical circumstances it didn't work for me.

The sticky strap does not last long
I bought one splint 4 months ago but the the sticky joint is no longer sticky any more. The strap comes off easily all the time. The splint is no longer working. Does the product have any warranty? I cannot find warranty info anywhere. If not, could you send me a free replacement since I got this one only 4-5 months ago? I am aware you are just a distributor, not the manufacturer. But the philosophy is that if I buy a product that has defects from Walmart, I go to Walmart for change or refund; I do not have to contact the manufacturer in this regard.

Great product
Very happy, it's light fits great and provides the perfect support for my thumb. I'm trying to find the same one, but for the left hand, but I can't find one, so I had to contact the seller??
