The Finer Edge: Crocheted Trims, Motifs & Borders Paperback – January 8, 2013

There are fabulous choices and intriguing designs in this book for edgings.

Every pattern says which way it is worked (side to side, top to bottom, bottom to top, or some other way), has a diagram (which makes understanding the overall structure much easier), and is worked in actual crochet big enough to see and in varied cool colors as well. The written out instructions are also clear. The projects in the back are not the reason to buy this book as they are not nearly as nice as the edgings presented in the beginning. Only the "Moebus" scarf/shawl even slightly appeals to me, but the edgings themselves are different enough from other books that I consider this an excellent purchase!

I love Krisin Omdahl's work. Her instructions are clear, the photos are great, with good example projects. The first week I got the book, I solved a "too short" skirt problem with a beautiful edging. Came out great. The ideas and patterns in this book are beautiful and the possibilities are as wide as your imagination. Definitely recommend for the serious crochet enthusiast.

Haven't had the chance yet to try any of them out, but only because I'm making myself finish another project first. Instructions are very good and patterns are beautiful.

This author supplies written, graphs and pictorial instructions. Her presentation is clear and readable. Even the beginner crochet can learn from the graphs a WIDE variety of borders for projects. If you are a beginner that has a slightly lopsided afghan, don't throw it out! Salvage your work with a large border, which will help hide and balance the imperfection. I have purchased a few of Omdahl's books and I have not been disappointed yet.

The designs are great but there are no suggestions of how to incorporate them on something other than sewing them to a skirt, etc. I wanted unique edges to add to baby blankets and I can't figure out how to do that by crocheting directly from the body of the blanket into one of the edges. I'm going to email the author for suggestions. I don't want something to sew on anything, I need to incorporate it within the project itself. The patterns are really nice and look so beautiful.

This book is great for finding unique ways to edge blankets and projects. I use it regularly as I love to crochet blankets. It is great for taking a pattern and making it uniquely yours.

These edgings can take your projects over the top!

Beau livre de référence à avoir. Les explications du sac à la fin du livre sont difficiles à comprendre; je les ai relues cinq fois et ce n’est pas clair encore. Toutefois, je ne regrette pas mon achat!

In search of original borders and appliques I took a shot at this book and was not disappointed. The charts are very large and clear making the crochet so much easier than other books on crochet. Some designs very basic while others more intricate so adaptable to all styles.

So many nice ideas! I'm very happy I bought this!I'm going to buy other books from the same author!

Ich habe das Buch als Kindle-Edition gekauft und muss sagen, dass es sich gelohnt hat. Die Kindle-Qualität ist sehr gut, man kann gut damit arbeiten.Das Buch selbst enthält einige sehr schöne und ungewöhnliche Muster, die zwar als Randspitzen gedacht sind, in einigen Fällen aber auch für größere Stücke verwendet werden können.Es gibt diverse Kreise, Räder, Fächer, Knoten....hier dürfte jeder etwas für seinen Geschmack finden.Die Projekte selbst sind hübsch, aber nicht besonders aus dem Rahmen fallend.Es gibt Schals, eine Tasche, Umhänge, Tops und Pullover.Das große Plus dieses Buchs sind auch nicht unbedingt die Projekte, sondern die Vielzahl an schönen Mustern und die Tatsache, dass es neben einer Textbeschreibung für alles auch komfortable Häkelschriften gibt.

This book contains a variety of edgings, which I will find quite useable. It is more than just a stitch pattern guide as it has some patterns in the back of the book. The best thing about this book is that it is written instructions with the diagrams and would be a very good way to learn to follow diagrams if this is something you have not yet mastered.
