The description says to prime the chalkboard. What does that mean?

Hi Barbara, priming your chalkboard is something most chalkboards require before being used. Because chalkboard surfaces are very porous, you need to prime the surface BEFORE your first use to prevent 'ghosting'. Ghosting is when a faint outline or ghost remains even after erasing the chalk. The best way to prevent this is to make sure to prime your board.. The first chalk to hit your board sinks into the pores. So you want your first chalk to be a consistent one, with even strokes all over the board. Priming is easy. All you need is a piece of chalk. 1. Using a piece of chalk on it's side, rub vertically and horizontally until the entire surface of the chalkboard is covered in chalk. Be sure to just use the side of the chalk. This will give your background an even consistency. The chalk works best once it's flattened and smooth. 2. Take a DRY rag or paper towel and rub the chalk into the board in a circular motion. You're not actually erasing, but rather pushing the chalk layer into the pores even further. 3. Once complete, you can wipe the board with a wet rag to remove any chalk dust and then dry it again. I received a box but the white marker came with no tip as i was testing all of them?

There should be a tip on all of the markers.

Can i use and reuse these on a mason jar? ehat else can i write on besides a chalkboard? thank you!! :d

I don't see why you couldn't use it on mason jars. I use these on a dry erase board that is a black background. I actually wouldn't recommend them on a chalkboard as they are markers and feel they might not clean off a porous service. you could use these on any slick surface and have easy clean up (probably would test area first though)

What do I do if the tip gets stuck in the marker?

If the tip gets stuck, take off the cap and partially unscrew the colored plastic piece that attaches the nib to the black body of the marker. Once you unscrew and then re-screw this piece, the nib will pop back out.
