I replaced an OEM with this model Alternator for a 2012 VW Jetta TDI. This was perfect replacement, and it is still running well for 3,000 Miles. As a DIY'r, I did the work myself. This is a Big Project to replace on a VW, Not a simple procedure. VW calls for "Service Mode" which entails the Whole front end disassembled to gain access. 100% works, stupid annoying to put in if you do it by the book. Or just drop the fan shroud, undo the AC line and most of the intake stuff. Then you can shimmy it out. But, make sure the threaded inserts are pulled out the same size as the old one. Cause I didn't have them out enough. So when I put it back in the alternator was floppy. Look at the images to pull the inserts through with the stock bolt.

The plastic around the plug came broken and I wasted my time installing this just to find out it doesn't generate any volts. Ordered a new valeo that was actually cheaper with a lifetime warranty from fcp and the car started charging so I know this new alternator was bad.

I thought about putting 4 stars on this review as the first alternator i received was not packaged properly and was damaged in shipping. However, the exchange process was a breeze and you cannot beat the price anywhere. I have 2009 2.0 tdi Jetta and my alternator started intermittently working so i ordered this alternator to replace it. My budget is kinda tight right now or i would have sprung for an oem alternator. I was a little skeptical on how well this one was going to work as it was so cheap in comparison to OEM. We got it installed and it works great, so far no difference from the OEM one. I am very pleased. Hopefully it lasts as long as the OEM one (205,000 miles), only time will tell.
