Dayton Audio SA100 100W Subwoofer Plate Amplifier

The power of the unit and its settings are great. I didn't flush mount it as I was using it to.power an existing subwoofer that's self-contained. It works great.

I bought the SA 100 to replace a dead amplifier plate in my Polk PSW110. It seems to be better built than the original; The original weighed about a pound this weighs about 8 pounds and is more adjustable than the original. Sounds much better in my home theater system than the original did, for sure an upgrade. Did not fit the original speaker box ; I had to widen the box about an inch; Then make a spacer from a 1x12 so that the SA100 would fit in the speaker box without hitting the baffle that is at the top of the speaker box. So far I am happy with this product the upgrade alone was worth the effort.

I purchased this to breathe life into a BIC F-12 subwoofer who’s plate amp had failed The BIC subwoofer has a 12 inch driver. I was outside of the warranty. So I had nothing to lose and when I found this product at $109 .....it was much less than replacing the whole subwoofer; so I took the gamble. The old subwoofer used to cut out at high volumes due to heat and no heat sink on the back of it. When you’re at the pool and really cranking the tunes at high-volume you really want that bass response to stay on target....when it drops out it ruins the whole song. Installation of the new amp involved making a hole in the back of the original cabinet a little larger. A little minor surgery with a jigsaw and a fine tooth blade was all it took To make the new amp fit snugly. The new amplifier drives the 12 inch driver just fine with a lot more power And response. As suspected, the original BIC plate amp was weak, muddy in response and essentially shite. Frankly, I think it was insulting my music . I’ll keep abusing this subwoofer at high volumes for a few months and report back. If this sub woofer does not drop out after prolonged high-volume usage over the next few months, then I’ll assume the five stars I gave it from the offing are warranted.

This is a very good amplifier. The bass is full and tight. Auto-On feature works well and the volume & cross-over controls work smoothly. Their is plenty of drive for a home studio or theater. The given dimensions are a bit larger than the actual device. To get the full 100 watts, you must use both inputs (either as stereo inputs or a y-cable) so a switch to bridge the inputs would be useful. The review asked for a sheerness and thickness rating (not sure what they mean) but this is a very good value. I will purchase again.

It works OK so I am keeping it. If not for hum would give it 3 stars. cons Stays on all the time. The heat sinks are hotter when off than on. Has slight hum 60hz. About -60 db. Grounding issues? Hums and runs warm (heat sink) when off. Does not have a three-prong plug. Probably why it hums. Neutral to chassis with speaker ground. Possible safety hazard if plugging in with ground to hot. Neutral to chassis. Makes a slight thump when turning on and plugged in but not loud. Loud thump is powered on in ON/auto mode. No power delay. Low level stereo input so you have to use a Y adapter to get full power. Pros Has plenty of power to drive two 8" 4 ohm sub speakers. Doesn't sound bad Doesn't run hot. Auto off and on works. Not really it runs hot when off. Decent transformer (115V, 120W), bridge, caps (Chinese caps may be a problem)

I dont usually write reviews, but I figured I would do so for these products because theyre a specialty product and I read some reviews that seemed like maybe people didnt understand what they were purchasing. First of all, the only negative thing I have to say about my whole experience, is that I was disappointed none of my purchases through Parts Express were covered under my 2-day Amazon Prime shipping. HOWEVER, I did not feel cheated because I had to pay for shipping since my purchases actually arrived sooner than items I ordered through Amazon. Yeah, I had to pay extra, but the shipping gets an A+ from me. Also, everything was always packed tight, lots of cushion, and box within a box. I work for a large brown shipping company and believe me I see poor packaging allllllll the time. These people are on top of their game. I mounted 2 Bass shakers with a steel plate to the steel frame of my couch. I wired them at 8 ohms to a Dayton Audio SA100 amp, and switched out the stock feet to my couch with the Buttkicker brand isolators. WOW! These things work magnificent! If youre on the fence about purchasing these things just do it already! You wont regret it! Im a bass junkie, I have 5 subs hooked up to my system, but with these hooked up I havent even turned on 2 of them since my install. I mainly watch movies but it seems these will work great for music as well. If you plan on using this for transducers, this is all youll need to power 2 of them. I have it set at about 85 hz and the level is at about half. I only wish there were boxes available for these without the speaker hole already cut out but Im sure it wont be hard to make one.

Purchased as a replacement amp for my home entertainment subwoofer unit. Was easy to install and sounded good. That was in September 2022. As of January 2023, the amp no longer works and doesn’t turn on. Opened it up and saw just how cheap the components were inside. Disappointed at the outcome and the fact that I have to buy another replacement amp to solve my problem. Do yourself a favor and purchase a reliable product from a name brand instead. Don’t waste your time or money with this product.

This product was an exact replacement for the one that failed in my sub. Got my sub back to working great. I tried a few newer subs that had more power than mine and they all sucked. I finally found this replacement amp and decided to repair my sub. So glad I found this product.

It's been more than a year now. I'm still using the original 2 Aura AST-2B-4 Pro Bass shakers I purchased with it. The Kit is still working great. The shakers still shaking hard. I use them for gaming and I game a lot (FPS and racing sims). I am not one to leave my amps and subs powered on or even on stand by when not using, I always power them off. For a DIY set up, it works for me. Only thing i noticed is a slight hum but no performance degradation for the past year.
