I love this book so much. I might as well have highlighted the whole book! So much goodness here to warm the heart. I first read this book when I was expecting my first child. Now that I have three, I still turn to this book to help me focus on what motherhood is all about. The book is a beautiful reminder of how beautiful family really is. And when I’m having what seems to be day after day of frustration with my children, I can turn to this book to remind me of how precious my children really are; it fills my soul with gratitude and brings me back into focus when I get off track in my parenting.

Embracing Motherhood is a gem for all mothers - young and old alike. The reflection questions at the close of each chapter make this book a FANTASTIC option for small group sharing and reflection. Also it should be noted that this book isn't just for Catholic Moms - we all share the same trials and joys, regardless of faith. Regardless of your denomination, I believe you will find something (or lots of somethings), you can embrace about motherhood in this wonderful book!!

I received this book at a time when I was struggling with just about everything. As a mother of 10 children ages 4 months to 20 years I was really feeling at the end of my rope. I had prayed to God for a life preserver and I'm not exaggerating when I say I think this book was it. It reminded me of why I do what I do and gave me valuable (and realistic) tips on how to enhance my mothering and my prayer life as well as how to be a better wife, friend, and daughter of God. I cannot recommend this book enough. I have dog eared pages and plan to go back and highlight as well. This book should be read by mothers young and old.

Our society doesn't regard motherhood has a vocation. It is one of those things that you are supposed to do when you want the experience of it. Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle's book regards motherhood as much more as she balances Church teaching and practical experience to take a closer look at motherhood in all its aspects. From being open to life to praying for and with our children to education, from single moms to moms of miscarriage, from mothering boys and mothering girls, she considers many aspects of motherhood with encouragement from Church documents and quotes from Mother Teresa and Bl. John Paul II and advice from someone who has been in the trenches. It is simply impossible for any Catholic mother to not take something wonderful and rich away from this book.

I received this book as a gift and it has been very helpful to me as a mother and woman. I like how it is not overwhelming to read, and references are made throughout the book (so you know where the sources are from). The author truly understands what women and moms need and I appreciate her down-to-earth approach. As I usually can not read books that are too lofty.

The first question first-time parents often ask themselves? "Where's the instruction manual?" (If we veteran parents, married or single, are honest, we often ask it, too, don't we?) Parenthood in general is bewildering. Add raising your kids' as good, practicing Catholic Christians, and it's doubly, no, triply so. What to do? Simple. Read the instruction manual. That is, read this book. Really loved this book.Author touches on various important aspects of motherhood and gives great insights on those topics. Would definitely recommend to all expecting moms and new moms
