I gave these pencils a 5 star rating; the colors are awesome and appear that they will work well. However, I bought these as a gift for Xmas for my niece so will have to wait and see what they are actually like once she uses them. Crayola products are usually first rate.

These pencils are a pain in the butt to use-- it takes patience and a lot of layering to get them to put down much color. Bearing down is a quick way to destroy your paper's tooth, so that's the wrong approach. They're also not the absolute brightest pencils out there-- Tombow Irojiten and Kutsuwa HiLine pencils are brighter and lay down their pigment much easier than these Crayolas. So why five stars? This is the most complete set of fluorescent colored pencils I've found-- and by fluorescent I do mean they glow under blacklight. Blue and purple fluorescent pencils are unfortunately omitted from most sets, but not this one. (Though the purple color in this set, called "winter sky," is rather pinkish) One problem-- the yellow pencil glows green under a blacklight instead of yellow. That's actually fairly common for fluorescent pencils-- I've found the yellow Staedtler Textsurfer Dry highlighter pencil does glow yellow, so that could be combined with this set to make everything glow its own color. (It's also a much softer, easier to use pencil) When I make art with fluorescent pencils I mix a bunch of them together to get the absolute brightest colors that glow the same color under a blacklight-- Tombow Irojiten "Surprise Red," Kutsuwa HiLine orange, Staedtler Textsurfer Dry yellow, Kutsuwa HiLine green, Crayola eXtreme "absolute zero," and Crayola eXtreme "winter sky." I hope to eventually discover some blue and purple fluorescent pencils superior to these and available as open stock. Until then, this seems to be your best bet for a full spectrum of glowing colors. Give them a shot! (And like I said, be patient-- gently apply quite a few layers before dismissing them as not bright enough)

five plus stars! I ordered two sets, one set was perfect, the other had two colors that kept loosing the led. I think this is just pretty much what happens sometimes. My daughter and I still stand by the 5 stars, for the color, Crayola reputation and wow, the colors are great. Blue could be brighter, but it works for what we need. Will be ordering many times over. yeah Crayola!!!!
