I’m wondering why this is necessary. How is this easier than just removing the hammock from the stand when not in use? It’s so easy to do.

I guess you could take the hammock off the stand whenever you're not using it. I didn't want my wife to have to take it down and store it somewhere, and then drag it out and set it up each time she wanted to use it. It's just easier and less time consuming to slide the sleeve over the hammock, and you're done.

Haven't used with 2 adults together. Not comfortable with that. Only one at a time. Maybe 2 children/teens together is safer and hammock is not over-weighted.

Is this protective sleeve for the single or double hammock

Both but overpriced. I kept it.

Will this sleeve accomodate an under quilt along with a lightweight hammock?

Not likely. The sleeve is designed to be snug, so it doesn’t blow around. I use mine with a canvas hammock, and it draws up well and snug.
