Splurge
if you like brown rice, you will love this red rice. It has a crunchy, not mealy mouthfeel and lovely taste. I have been using it sparingly because of the price and when I do I am always delighted. DO NOT confuse this red rice with the one from the Himalayas which is cheap and has none of the wonderful flavor and texture.

Add this to your pantry if you love rice.
This is one of the loveliest tasting rices on the planet. There is a subtle nuttiness and depth of flavor that blends well with anything you might want to add and is delicious just on its own.

Red rice from Provence
The Riz de Camargue, has a unique nutty flavor and slightly chewy texture. One taste at a restaurant in Provence, and I was smitten. Thank you, Amazon, for making this delicacy available in the States. The Gourmet Valley bags are a good value. We use it in a one-third/two-thirds proportion with white rice, first cooking the red rice for 15 minutes before adding the white rice, because of the different cooking times. Bon appetit!

Unique and delicious
For texture and taste you can't beat this rice. This rice is grown in France and is firmer on the tooth than brown rice, with a nutty flavor that's unique. One reviewer was irked because the fine print on the label suggests that there are other grains of rice besides the Camargue rice. If you pour this rice into your hand you'll see that you're getting exactly what you thought you were, so I would respectfully discount this objection.

Try this rice!
Was served this red rice in France and was immediately hooked. Thrilled to find a source back home - I buy it 6 bags at a time.

Product information is confused; label misleading.
This is indeed an interesting product, but the large-print label does not tell the whole story. If the customer reads carefully, the contents are revealed: "Camargue Red Rice is a delicious healthful rice that includes Extra Fancy 100% wild rice, and delicious blends of wild rice, brown rice, and basmati". From this, it is not clear whether it contains Camargue Red Rice at all. Is this packaging statement simply inept while there actually is the desirable specialty red rice as would appear from the picture, or what? I for one would not want to spend this kind of money online just to find out.You will also note that the Amazon description includes the statement "6-Grain medley combines three beautiful and delicious rices with hull less barley, rye berries and black and purple barley" but after a bit of thought, I realized this refers to a different product and somehow was put here where it doesn't belong. That actually is what caught my attention because rye and barley contain gluten, which is off-limits for sufferers of gluten intolerance who often seek alternatives such as these interesting rices.
