Individual Software Family Tree Heritage Platinum 9

My wife got me hooked on Family Trees since she has Ancestry subscription. This program linked to the Free Family Tree of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, which has a lot of great information. Program loaded fine and started typing in my name and went from there. Program states you need a serial number from the cd sleeve, which was missing. Went to Family Tree Heritage support and they supplied me with the serial number, which it turns out, if you have the cd, you don't need the serial number. Lots of fun finding relatives. This program also will print out all sorts of reports so you can visualize your line. (I didn't know my grandfather was born in Ireland.) You will find that in any ancestry search that you will be paying along the line for information, so be prepared for that. This is not a fault of this software! Have a good time seeing how far back you can go and find out what your relatives did for a living!

I have been using this software now for several years to development my family history. It works seamlessly with Ancestry.com, FindaGrave, and,with the newer version of software, MyHeritage and Find my Past. There is a minor inconvenience in installing the software in that the icon used to start the software must be placed on the desktop from the Program Files (x86) installation folder. But once the software is working, a lot of resources are made available to develop your family history. This is the best of several products I have used in past years for this purpose. I am also aware that all family tree software is improving with time, not just Family Tree Heritage. I would not recommend it. It keeps Erroring with a pop-up that does not go away, and it's a bit difficult to navigate, too.

I bought this thinking I could install it and import my info from FamilyTreeMaker (by Broderbund) into this program. They are not compatible that I can see. INDIVIDUAL makes FTHeritage. I guess you might be able to back it up from Ancestry but they changed their terms too. So BEWARE when you are buying. I have a lot of typing I have to do now......

For the price this program is great! Its very easy to use...I had it up and running within minutes. Adding information is simple and very similar to a previous program I had. I was also happy with Amazon's return service on this product. The first disc arrived damaged and would not work. I followed the prompts for a return, printed a receipt, took it to a local Kohl's for drop off (no box or postage needed) and had a replacement copy within days. Happy with this experience overall.

I use this all the time along with FamilySearch.org on line. I have found over a thousand ancestors on FamilySearch.org on line and downloaded them into the program. Family Search on line is free to use also. I have created my tree in familysearch.org and in this program together. The problem I run into is this program will duplicate names and get them messed up a lot but have figured out how to find and correct the duplication's, that's why the 4 stars. I find my ancestors on line and make the tree, then download the tree to this program.

Having difficulty building family tree. If you make a mistake can delete just that part. I’m very disappointed in this product.

I have used this in conjunction with Ancestry.com. I already had my father's family tree back to 1730, but was able to go back into the early 1500s. I am learning how to use this easily. I recently had a problem where it would not load because it required a 'new' activation. I did not have the software key, which was required. I got in touch with Tech Support. I figured I would not be working with it that evening. To my surprise, Tech Support gave me the key within about an hour. A great job. I highly recommend this company.
