THE SEARCH IS OVER... Finally a GREAT Can Opener - BUT - Will It Last?
I've been struggling for over 2 years to find a good, reliable hand operated can opener with that isn't a "fussbudget" to operate. After two consecutive can opener purchases from a highly touted line of kitchen products, I thought I'd give this brand a try. (Hey, what've I got to lose at this point?)I was pleasantly surprised when this "baby" was delivered to my home via AMAZON. Unfortunately, in the weeks prior, I inadvertently purchased this same model that did NOT FEATURE a magnet to capture the lid. (I REALLY like to capture the lid BEFORE it plunges into the contents of the can.) So, THIS time, I made sure that this model at least had some form of MAGNET.This white (more cream colored) manual can opener works like a DREAM! it is easy to position and secure onto the rim of the can. Effortless to turn. Easy to disengage. Best of all, this can opener leaves no rough, sharp edges INSIDE of the can! I can use my silicone scrapers to remove ALL of the contents without damaging them on a cans sharp edges. HOORAY! The only CAVEAT that I detect thus far is the manner in which the MAGNET works. I much prefer a can opener that features a magnet that automatically engages with the lid at the end of cutting (keeping it from dropping into the open can). The magnet on this model is unfortunately an AFTERTHOUGHT. Sadly, it is awkwardly positioned on the side of the apparatus, thus forcing you to retrieve a messy, wet lid from the contents of the can. BUMMER!NOTE TO MANUFACTURER: If NOT designed to automatically engage with the lid during OPERATION of the can opener, a magnet should AT LEAST be positioned at the TOP TIP of the opener for quicker access (rather than on the side where the handle has to be moved out of the way to use magnet).

FINALLY! A Can Opener That Works!
If I had a nickel for all the can openers I bought at the grocery store--only to throw them away in disgust because they didn't work--I would have enough money to. . .go to Taco Bell. Seriously, how many times have we screamed in frustration trying to open a can, only the blade refused to turn, or it was so hard to grind and turn, or the blade cut unevenly, or worse yet, once the lid was loose, you had to try to take it off with your fingers. . .only to have the filthy lid fall into the contents of the can? Worse yet, can I get an amen for everyone who, at one time or another, have cut their finger on a sharp lid? So much trouble to get into a tin can--until PRINCHEF came along with their nifty stainless steel can opener.I bought this opener (via this website!) with much trepidation. Quite frankly, I was tired of buying can openers that looked promising, only to find out when I got them home that they were user unfriendly. Not so with PRINCHEF. This opener is lightweight, with easy-to-grip rubber handles, and a blade and turn knob that glide easily through the metal. I was actually astonished I didn't have to grit my teeth to turn the blade because there was such resistance; in this case, the blade turns and glides smoothly and easily. But the ultimate payoff: Once the lid is cut, the PRINCHEF has a magnet that latches onto the lid and removes it easily from the can. No mess, no fuss, no bloody fingers. Folks, this can opener truly works. So when it's time to get into that tuna can, or the tomato paste can for a quick spaghetti meal, reach for the PRINCHEF stainless steel can opener. Your wrist and fingers will thank you.~D. Mikels, Esq.

Works smoothly
2025 update: Works great still. I do wash and dry it immediately. The only thing is the magnet gets stuck on other utensils where I store the can opener. Kind of irritating at times. I never think to use it for lifting the lid! 😂 I am working on a way to keep it away from other utensils. I do recommend it.Had this for a couple of years now. Works great. I don’t see much rust. I clean and dry it immediately after each use.

Now it barely works
I have had this can opener for a couple of months. It started out great. It grabbed the lip of a can and traveled well around the edge. Now it just spins. I try to angle it one way or another to get it to grab and it just spins. ugh@! I thought it would last longer. I really liked it and the magnet to remove the lid was a great feature! Now which can opener is to be trusted? UPDATE: The seller contacted me and offered to ship a new can opener. I provided my information and did receive a new can opener. The new one was an upgraded design. It works great. So far it is working just like it was new. I still love the magnet for the removal of the can lid. I'm ordering another one, now for my Mom. Thanks!

A great solution
I read lots of reviews before deciding on this can opener. I want to dispel some of the comments. First, it is a bit hard for this old lady to figure things out. I know there is a magnet, but I did not see it. So, I used the old age approach. Put it near metal and see where the magnet attrachs (more the can opener around). Got it. The magnet is quite strong. When I used the can opener, attaching it and rotating the cutter CLOCK wise (per instructions), it does great. When you've cut completely around the can, move the rotating cutter to a diagonal position. This allows you to tip the opener toward the lid so the magnet can grip the lid. Off it comes!. The cut edge of the lid is not sharp. Great safety for my old fingers. I hope this makes sense. I really like mine.
