Finch Bird Feeder for Outdoors (16 Ports) Thistle & Nyjer Seed Hanging Feeder with 16 Ports and 8 Metal Perches, Chew-Proof Metal Design for Wild Birds

I've been using nyjer seed feeders for years and I have gone through many types. I think I like this one the best. I really like that the top, base and perches are metal. I like that the top just lifts up to pour in feed. I've had some metal ones that have a slight screw on to fill but I found that occasionally this fails and the feeder falls. This design makes that impossible. Plus it's so easy to fill. Also I like that there is no wider base at the bottom where seed sometimes lands and messes up, especially when there is a rain. I've also had all plastic ones and they never last too long. I'm sure this one will last longer so, value wise, this is great. It will be a little hard to clean, but they all are. The lesser goldfinches have found it and line up like an apartment house with birds on each perch. They are happy too.

This is one of several bird feeders I started out with. I use Nyjer seed in it and the birds get at it just fine. It is my busiest bird feeder out of the 6 that I have. I sometimes have as many as 6 finches at a time on this bird feeder. It is light so you don't need to worry about it pulling the shepherds hook over if that's what your using. I had a problem with starlings coming but they cannot get at the birdseed with this, so no worries attracting large birds. The birdseed in it stays dry because of the design. Won't mold from wet birdseed.

The birds land on the perches but it looks like they can't find the holes. There are no markings around the tiny holes. There are two holes right above each perch. It's been a month. The food level has not lowered. The feeder itself is well made. Tough plastic tube. Easy to fill. The lesser port holes have the metal ports not just holes. 10 days later. I bought the copper 6 port that has portals and filled with exactly the same nyjer/thistle. The gold and house finches have flocked to this one. 5 stars on the 6 portal one. One month later. I drew a black circle with a magic marker around and around the holes on the 16 port holes feeder. Put same food in it. Finches flocked to it now. 4 stars for the 16 port with a small change to it. The 6 port bought after is excellent.

I have bought many, many Nyjer seed bird feeders over the past couple of years. I have loads of house finches, golden finches, sparrows in my yard. So far this is the BEST feeder I have found. We did need to slightly enlarge the holes, with a drill. Also this one has 16 ports for feeding…all the other ones have significantly less. We have an issue with attracting a large flock of pigeons. The pigeons have learned how to knock down the sock feeders, and hang on larger feeders, which drops much of the seed and attracts even more pigeons. I highly recommend this feeder.

I was hesitant as the pictures showed the feed openings to be quite small. I was worried they would be too small and the birds wouldn't eat from it. I was worried about nothing! I have a surplus of gold Finches and they can't get enough of nyer seed. They can absolutely access the seed with ease. The small openings reduce waste and potential for seed to get wet. Highly recommend.

Very dissappointed with this bird feeder. One poor design flaw that has taken me a while to sort out. The perches are TOO SHORT. Birds cannot grip onto short perch to feed. At first I thought it might be the holes were too small, made a little larger still no feeding. It's too bad because everything else seems to be very well made with strong parts. Squirles cannot chew it apart as with so many other feeders with weaker materials.

Could get better bird feeders (I have) for a lot more money. Decided to get some less expensive ones also. This is one of those. For the money, very happy with it (and importantly, birds are very happy with it). I would get these again when want to not get higher end. Only downside, and you know what you're getting, is that these don't have a very big volume. So have to refill a lot (I've got hungry birds - even with 8 feeders around house, have to refill this one every 3-4 days). But if you want to refill less, and certainly if you want bigger with this level of quality, need to spend more. It's a choice.

The birds loved the tube feeders but the bad thing about this feeder is the birch I'd big enough that the black birds could eat the seeds.

Great for smaller finches. I prefer that holes are only big enough for the nyjer seed and maybe some small millets. Keeps all the larger starlings and crows away. Less seed is spilt or goes moldy because it is more weather tight.

This holds Nyger seed well and the birds use it.

This bird feeder is very small and flimsy. Returning it is a pain as it needs to go back to the USA even though it was ordered through Amazon Canada - not going to go to the trouble of doing it -

Finch feeder. Has been out 2 weeks, no finch yet!! Still waiting. New ,so I haven’t cleaned it
