Humorous and witty!
My 3-year-old son LOVES this book already! He doesn't exactly understand the concept of dropping letters to make new words, but he understands the humor in changing words a little to make completely new ones! And there's something about a cackling toddler! The illustrations are adorable and there are hidden bits of cleverness for adults (and older kids) -- my husband and I really enjoy reading this book to our son (which is good, since we've had to read it A LOT over the last few days)Great for young kids who will be able to pick up on the repeating simple structure and beautiful illustrations as well as older kids who would start to recognize these (and other!) words in their real world!

Imaginative word game for emerging readers
Unlike other kids books for emerging readers which merely go through the motions of short easy to read sentences, this book creates an imaginative game of producing new words be taking individual letters away from existing words to often hilarious effect."Ship" becomes "Sip" and "Rink" becomes "Ink", readers and parents alike can expand the game to other books or car trips as a way to engage kids with words and reading.

Very cute, educational book
This is not your ordinary alphabet book. The beauty of this book is that it demonstrates the utility of each letter with an example like: B is important because without B, block becomes lock. The illustrations are fun as well. I recommend this book for older toddlers and beginning readers.

An alphabet book not like the others
An ABC book with a twist! Great for encouraging phonemic awareness. Grade 1 students enjoyed it as a read-aloud. Good addition to a classroom book collection.
