They should do the job but they are quite hard and may not be that comfortable to sit on. They appear to be filled with multiple sheets of a hard foam material.

Definitely should have one of these on your boat. Not only they make a fantastic seat cushion but it can save someone's life! Any extra life floatation device is worth having. This is great quality and of course excepted by the coast guard as an life saving device. That says it all.

I bought this to use as a waterproof cushion for the back of my Mom's shower chair to make it more comfortable for her. It was a little too thick so I sliced the top open and pulled out a few of the styrofoam like sheets (the inside is just stacked sheets of thin flexible styrofoam like material). This is perfect now that it is the right thickness! Not sure how it works as a floatation device, but that is not the reason I bought it.

It is comfortable to sit on however the buoyancy filler is in several flat pieces which slide around inside the outer cover. It would be better if the cover was smaller to fit the filler pieces so they wouldn't shift around.

This is a good type IV cushion. It is clearly marked with all of the required USCG verbage and numbers. It floats well and will keep a larger body (I'm 240 lbs.) safe. We have been using it as a floaty while we swim off of the boat. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the strapping and stitching is somewhat thin and I can see it tearing at the seam someday, but at this price it is a good buy.

I ordered the yellow ones, for increased visibility. They look exactly as pictured. I mainly wanted a better cushion for my kayak seat as well as another option for a floaty in case of emergency, this fulfills both those needs and is the best kayak seat cushion I’ve ever tried!!!
