Don’t doubt - just get it
It’s been over a year and still love it- splurged when I bought this but I had one for cheap and it sucked. This one is still great and affordable compared to other higher end ones (:

Solid choice for outdoor screening
I bought this a few years ago now. I’ve used it quite a bit to watch sports or put on cartoons while everyone is hanging out in the backyard. I put it away inside after each use, of course. It’s been great, even in sometimes dusty conditions. Pretty easy to set up - much more reliable than leaving a tv outside. I’m using an 80” screen but it could do 100” easily. It can be seen in full daylight as long as it’s in a shaded area. Doesn’t get much better for casual outdoor viewing for the price. I use a cheap Bluetooth transmitter to some PA speakers because the little onboard speaker isn’t worth much. Don’t be fooled by the cheap junk - nothing will perform and be as bright as a name brand projector like Epson.

It is good, or is it?
This projector is a tale of the good and the bad. I researched dozens of projectors before landing on this unit based on the several factors including price, brightness, availability, mounting options and options for IP control. Upon receiving the unit, I mounted the projector to my ceiling with a universal mount (not included with this purchase) and turned it on. The first thing I noticed was that the picture was upside down and the quick start guide that is included does not specify how to correct this. A quick google search identified 2 ways to correct this, either by using the remote to control the upside down picture and navigating the menus or through the web interface, which you can only access after finding the IP address of the projector. After correcting the upside down picture, I was startled by the sheer brightness of the picture. At 3200 lumens, the picture is as bright as any tv I have ever owned and powers through ambient light. My delight soon dimmed as I realized the noise I thought was a plane flying over my house was actually this projector. I read the other reviews for this product before my purchase and did not a few other reviewers making reference to the noise. I can assure you, the noise is quite noticeable and I am hoping it gets quieter as it burns in as a few others have notated.A concern I had prior to the purchase, was the 1080 vs 4k discussion and I am happy to report that I don't think the price upgrade to 4k matters with the projector. The image is bright, crisp and clear and is visually stunning. I get so many comments on the clarity of the picture and no one can believe it is actually a projector. Just for those folks looking at the 1080 vs 4k, streaming devices are only streaming at 1080. I have watched 4k movies with this projector and did not miss the fact that the projector was not 4k in the slightest. The reason I am rating this unit at 4 starts is two fold, one being the noise of the unit and the second is the ability to integrate this particular unit into other systems, namely Home Assistant. Other Epson projectors have the ability to use PJ Link or other integrations and to date, I have not found a way to that with this unit. The Home Cinema 1080 does not have RS232 ports and does not seem to work with the ESC/vp.net commands either. I will update this review in the future if I can find a way to make this work.Overall, the picture is well worth the cost of this unit. If you will be bothered by the noise or the lack of integrations available, you will need to jump into a more expensive unit.

Perfect Short Throw Projector
We bought an Optoma projector first thinking it would work, had to return it since it wouldn't fit the screen. Then read up on which one to get for short distances, this one pretty much came up as one of the best especially for the money!!Plugged it in and fills up our 138 inch screen on our little 11 ft room! If you're looking for short throw this one's perfect for that!

re-assessment of previous review
In a previous review I found the image sharpness to be dissappointing. I later realized that the image sources I relied on were less than full hi-def. When I provided an appropriate input, the image quality showed the image sharpness I'd hoped for. My expectations were fully met. I should have waited longer before submitting the poor review.

Excellent product
Isn't 4k but the quality is very well for us. I installed in ceiling with a motorized screen and is working perfect.
