Kool-Stop Disc Pads Organic Compound, Disc Brake Pads, Shape: AVID Elixir XX, Organic, Pair

Replacing a SRAM LEVEL brake pad set that was unfortunately oil contaminated. Used on a Trek Farley 5 fat bike for technical XC riding.I have used Kool-Stop pads on canitlever and caliper brakes on nearly all my bikes since the early 2000s. They have always performed better than others, so when my first set of disk brakes had issues, I went with these. After a BKM break-in using water and progressively harder series of stops, these pads settled in great. No squealing, no pulsing, just reliable grab with excellent modulation. After a dozen rides, these brakes are still performinig exactly as expected and overall are working better than the original pads. Would definitely reccommend for replacement pads. Kool-Stop is a small American company that has been in business for years. No affiliation, I just trust their product, and this brake-set is no different.

Product came quickly, was priced very competitively, and works extremely well. What more can you ask for?The fit was perfect, noise level average for disc brakes, stopping power is plenty strong even for a big boy like myself.

Confirmed that these fit on SRAM DB5 calipers. I did not bed them in as I was in a hurry to get riding. My bad, horrible squeak all day. I used some 400 grit sand paper on top of a piece of granite to take the edge off. After reinstall they are perfect.

Quieter than semi-metallic pads, I am hoping they also wear the break discs less. These were easy to install, bedded in fine and are quiet. I like these a lot and will use them in the future.

I have three criteria for brake pads: stopping power, longevity, and price. The stopping is comparable to Avid organic pads. The longevity is also about the same. The price is a LOT less. There is no reason to get Avid pads when Kool Stops are available.

I purchased these to stop the annoying brake noise on my mountain bike equipped with the original Avid brake pads.I installed them carefully and made certain all oils and grease were removed from the rotor. After that I followed the recommmended break in procedure to properly seat the pads.On the trail these were still noisy for a few rides but the noise has since disappeared and I am totally please with their performance.

I have Avid Elixir 3 brakes and replaced my original pads with these. First of all, they were not a perfect fit. I had to sand the paint off of the left and right sides in order to get them to fit and then they screeched from the get go. And I mean LOUD. I can put up with a little noise but people 3 mountains and 2 counties over heard me coming. It was really bad. One other reviewer commented that they were not manufactured to the same tolerances as the Avids and I agree. Stick with the OEM.

They are quiet brut not lasting long. They wear fast in dry conditions and on my second set this summer. Go with the trucker pads as I find they last twice as long.
