It smells very much like chemicals, yes. BUT! after a few uses on thrifted items, it has definitely gotten rid of the smoke smell on them. I absolutely love Ozium. I got a great price on these 38 ounce canisters. When I was in high school all the kids used to use this to hide that they were smoking in the bathroom. Lol! Try it! It works excellent and it smells really good. I carry a can of it in my car too!
