Easy to understand
I previously purchased the exam guide by Dawn Apgar. I liked that it was super detailed but if you are like me, too much detail could cloud your studying because you think everything is important. I was too overwhelmed with the content. This book covers just about the same material but written in the simplest form. This will be my second time taking the exam. While some reviews critic the questions not being what is on the exam, that’s not the point of the guide. What I have learned is that the study guide questions are testing you on the CONTENT that is in the guide and nothing further. They are easy questions to test the recalling of information that you read in the chapters. No guide will have questions that are exactly like the exam. You will not be asked to recall facts, you will need to know how to apply the content in the study guide abstractly through critical thinking. My biggest advice is to spend time getting to know the types of test questions that will be on the exam. Learn the content in the book and think about ways the content could be applied in real life settings. I failed the first time because I memorized exam material thinking the question would be exactly like they were on the guides...straightforward.

Yeah, get it and PASS
No need for long words, this book is as direct, clear and IT as it gets. Passed using this book, had pocket prep and watched Phillip Luttrell. Please waste your money on self care and not on agency that promise to make sure you pass. Anywho, good luck.

Good overview of SW, but... If from CO, you dont need this book
This is a good overview of social work. But if you are from COLORADO and are trying to pass the Mental Health Jurisprudence examination, you do not really need this book. You should read the Colorado Mental Health Practice Act and Title 12, specifically Article 245. The CO Mental Health Jurisprudence exam is mostly on licensure policy. But the price isn't that bad, but if you read most of your Master SW courses you will know most of this stuff, but as I said, it's a great general overview of social work.

Great study book for social work exam!!
I am going into my second year for my MSW program this upcoming fall. I purchased this study prep book early so I can start reviewing material and possible exam questions for the licensure exam when I take it next July! The book is very very detailed. It has chapters that reviews important social work material that will likely be on the exam and then has practice questions to quiz yourself and has an answer key that gives very in depth detailed explanations for why the answer was that. Great study tool! Can't wait to keep practicing and reading the material in this book! Would definitely recommend!

Masters guide good read
Study guide was easy to read and digest, good review of materials. I noticed some questions were not in reading and I had to research online but that was good in making me seek further knowledge. I studied the clinical version 10 years ago and failed exam by 5 points. I felt this material was easier to digest and I’m not nervous and surprised and how much I’ve retained when taking quizzes. So I know this time I’ll pass and this refresher book is very helpful.

Helped me pass my exam with ease
I bought this only three weeks before my exam and I followed the recommended study schedule provided in the first chapter. I passed with flying colors! I am a very nervous test taker, but this book provided ample information, practice tests with answer explanations, and study tips. I would definitely recommend this to fellow social work grad students looking to study for their exam!

Did what i needed to do.
I passed the first time taking it. This was after 10+ years out of school. Studied hard for two months. I did purchase the apgar after i finshed this guide. The apgar seem to flow a little better. These were the only two items i used to study.
