I am an old time Nokia fan. The last phone I bought was a Nokia 7.2. That is a great phone. This phone starts with the 7.2 ended and is outstanding. If you have Verizon or spectrum, or any other provider that uses Verizon's Network do not buy this phone. I can't say it any plainer. Beyond that have had an excellent experience to date. The only issues that you're going to run into or actually with Android One. It's getting better compared to my 7.2 when I got it. If you complain to Android they tell you to call the builder. But then if you complain about anything to do with Android they refer you to forums they are worthless as far as any kind of support. This phone has an incredible camera. The responsiveness of the unit is extraordinary. Everything seems to be so much faster. The combination of an eight core processor and twice as much memory as a 7.2 really gives it room to flex its muscle. The screen is beautiful. Battery life on this unit with fairly heavy video use is about a day and a half. That by today's standard is incredible. I don't use the face recognition. So I can't comment on that. This phone is fairly heavy indicating the build quality. The fact that you have gorilla Glass shouldn't inhibit you from getting something to protect the phone. Personally I use wallet cases all the time. They're a little cumbersome in the pocket but my phone's all look like new. And yes I do drop phones from time to time but not very often. I recommend this phone for anyone who prefers an unlocked phone. The price is more than right for this phone it's an actual Big Time bargain. To give you an idea of Verizon sells a variant of this phone that is compatible with their Network, but be prepared to pay over $800 for it. There are major hardware differences in the cellular portion of that phone compared to this one. This phone is not compatible with Verizon's frequencies hence the proprietary version that they sell. Zeiss lenses are some of the best lenses you can put in a camera or medical devices just to name a few areas that Zeiss is involved. They actually have a cinematic mode written by Zeiss or commissioned by his Zeiss that does one hell of a job on video. As I said I really enjoy the phone. I added a video of the tropical storm/hurricane that went up the coast of Florida, this is in Cinematic mode. The picturu of the China pattern is in macro mode, the beer stein is with flash. Especially in low light!

My previous phone was a 7.1 that died before its second birthday, after a meltdown while sleeping in my brief case on a car trip. I’ve owned a string of Nokia phones in the past and that was the only lemon among them, so I replaced it with the new 8.3 5G. At Amazon's initial price of $440 it was great value for money. I’ve owned it for several weeks now so this review touches both the rough and the smooth and I'm reserving a fifth star only because I'm cautious about its expected lifetime. The camera is advertised as a marquee feature. I like the wide angle and macro capabilities, both of which are new to me and they work well. The main camera is very good too but not obviously superior to the 7.1 in ordinary picture taking. I like the large screen size which makes using the keyboard much easier for me but it’s not so big that I can’t wrap my hand around it easily. If you use a memory card partitioned as external storage you may find that some familiar apps will no longer recognize the card (Here Drive did on my 7.1 but no longer with Android 11). More disturbingly the phone will refuse to open a connection when you wire it to a PC. The proper menu is not activated. I found a quick work-around by pure chance but otherwise you have to go into developer options. This is also a necessary chore if you want to be sure that the phone cannot update automatically when unattended. I did because I ascribe the death of my last Nokia to that cause. The battery seems to last for ever. I use the phone quite a lot and with with wifi on I get almost a couple of days of use from a full charge. Some reviewers have said that the audio is tinny- perhaps a little, but overall it sounds fine to me. It reproduces classical music very well as long as you keep the volume below maximum, and it has a headphone socket which delivers great sound quality. I’m delighted by the refreshingly fast processing speed and it’s great to have the headroom of 8/128 storage. We don’t have 5G in our area but the phone comes with the full suite of bands from 2G through 5G so hopefully we can stop worrying about connectivity anywhere in the world. Trade reviewers make a lot of the Polar Night back and it’s certainly very eye catching; I just don’t understand the importance of it because most people never see it after they open the box. There’s a lot to like in the phone despite its minor quirks. Wireless charging might have been a nice plus but you can’t expect miracles. I’m looking forward to adding a fifth star after it gets past infant mortality.

Things I LIKE about this phone: Fast 8-core processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, microSD card expansion slot, 2-day run time, quick charging (18w), decent GPU, sexy glass back, large screen, 3.5mm headphone jack, thumb fingerprint reader is fast, Android One means 2 years of upgrades and 3 years of security updates, 64MP main camera (with optical image stabilization and dual LED flash), 12MP selfie camera, Bluetooth 5.0, oh yeah, and 5G support Things I WISH it had: Wireless charging, USB 3.x speed for its USB-C port. (It's only USB 2.0), OLED screen (It's an IPS LCD which is still really good.) Other thoughts: I've noticed the 5G icon at the top of my phone from time to time, but honestly, I don't think I've ever actually tried to download something or made a call while in 5G mode. It's nice to know that my phone is basically set for the next 3 or 4 years. Seems to work great on T-Mobile's network. Default Visual Voicemail built into Android doesn't appear to work with my carrier, though. No big deal, though. I rarely use voicemail.

国内用のSIMカードと、海外用のSIMカードが両方同時に入れられるので、海外に長期滞在する時など、面倒な事もなく携帯も１台で済むので便利です。 やや重たいのが難点ですが、少し気になる程度です。 実際に使い始めて、1年半程したところで充電の差し込み部が故障してしまい、充電ができなくなりました。 修理可能な所を探すのにも時間がかかり、見つかった時には電源も入らない状態。 日本で修理できる場所に限りがあり、かつ部品の仕入れに数ヶ月かかるとの事でした。 安価で使い勝手の良さは魅力でしたが、故障した時の修理には困ります。 結局、国内で修理可能な別の新しいものを購入しました。

still learning, but so far the phone is fine. One of the past reviews stated the Google assistant button was in a awkward position but I just turned it off. You have to turn on the privacy option to stop constant notifications and even if you turn the volume right off it will still ring unless the privacy option is on. Other than that its a great phone...

I purchased this phone as an upgrade from my Nokia 7.2 and there are noticeable improvements in the camera and functionality of the phone. The battery lasts all day, even with heavy use, and there is zero lag when opening, closing, or switching between apps. Pictures are crystal clear and videos are of impressive quality. Nokia continues to shine. My only issue with this phone is the placement of the fingerprint sensor (on the lock screen button). This placement is a little awkward and sometimes slows me down unlocking the device.

Love this phone! My workplace is in a dead zone for 4G service from every Canadian carrier, but the 8.3 picks up 5G at full signal strength. The camera is as good as you would expect Zeiss to be. The fingerprint reader doesn't respond to wet or overly dry skin, but most of the time it's very responsive. Android One is great with no bloatware. Battery is usually at 50% when I plug it in at night.
