Can this be used near the garage entrance on the side to keep from hitting my motorcycle?

If I understand your question correctly, if you place this sensor between your motorcycle and another vehicle entering the garage I feel it will flash if your vehicle bumps it. However, if you were planning on using this where the sensor is exposed to the elements (wind) I don’t think it is sturdy enough. I hope this helps.
