Short but sweet
I love this story because it told her story and it seems honest and trufull. It shows all fairytale don't end the way you expect and that some frogs don't turn into princes so you have to release them back into the pond. I'm glad she found peace within herself without hanging on to a frog 🐸 that didn't deserve her love.

TEAM DARLENE!!!
Got the book not long ago. I'm in between reading it and two other books at the moment but I'm halfway through with it.Darlene knew what she was saying when she wrote this book. Anyone with anything negative to say had an unrealistic expectation of what to expect. This book is worth the buy and worth the time to read. I'm glad she got to tell her tale. It's hard not to immediately go to the time and place of which she speaks on. She broke it all down and kept me intrigued all throughout. Cheers to you, Darlene. You still that b!tch, baby. Get off!!! 5 *****

Some people just don't realize how lucky they are to have a woman as beautiful & committed as Darlene
Darlene was the first true sex symbol of Hip Hop. Her story is very intriguing before & after she was a hip hop princess. It's mind boggling why Ice never officially married her. Darlene was definitely marriage material. Some people just don't realize how lucky they are to have a woman as beautiful & committed as Darlene. I wish I could meet her one day. She was my first hip hop crush, even before my girl MC Lyte. Darlene's book was far more interesting than Ice's story. I wish u the best Darlene & I will keep your book hoping one day I can meet you and have you autograph it.!!!!

Great Read
Great audio book. I completed the book in 3 days. Darlene was very transparent and I love her "Simplicity" life style. I can relate to the mother issues. I also can relate to her stance about child support. She is a role model for living life on your own terms, staying healthy, fit, sexy, respectable, abreast on current events. And she does a great job keeping Corey in check on the 5150 Show, which is my favorite Podcast I started watching religiously in 2018.

Informative Book WIth a Powerful Life Lession
Great insight was given about the era of REAL Hip-hop and it's influence on the world. Darlene Ortiz was definitely "The Definition of Down" yet the series of events that occur in the book makes any mature mind feel as she was easy prey for older guys like ICE because of her young age and upbringing.

Great Story!
Buckle up! Yes, it's a story about the Queen of the West Coast rap scene but it's the early life that leads up to that, that makes the book for me. This is a love story, a rags to riches story and a story of perseverance under the best and worst of times. If you're looking for dirt and gossip, SORRY, this isn't that book.Darlene keeps it classy and honest. This book is loaded with a great mix of stories from the early hip hop era and personal experiences. I'd recommend this book to any young person. Thanks Darlene!

Excellent Book !
Excellent Book from Darlene the Syndicate Queen. She is definitely an iconic figure in Hip Hop. Her imagery helped Ice-T and Hip Hop explode in popularity. The Power album photo is one of the defining images in Entertainment history and set the stage for women in Music videos.

Loyal to a default
This book is the opposite of what I've expected. She came from nothing and made something out of herself. She kept her respect and integrity. She wasn't out here making a fool out of herself and never fell victim to drugs. She made sure her so. Was taken care of and never saw her with little to no man after Ice. She's right.. they don't make them like her no more. Loyal to a default. Loved this book!

Does not work on kindle version
I bought the kindle version and could not read it. The orientation was set to landscape and the text could not be increased so I could not read a single word of the book. I tried to change the settings but that did not work. If you have a kindle do it waste your money on this version of this book.

Can't read if you are blind
Giving this 1 star, as the publisher has disabled text to speech. I purchased this book, but didn't realise that I would be unable to reas it on my iPhone. I lost my vision a few years ago. Am sure other blind readers would love to read more about 80s hip-hip. I was a huge fan of Ice-T.
