The Last Apprentice: Seventh Son: Book 1 and Book 2 Paperback – Bargain Price, December 23, 2014

This book was so good, I actually read the next seven or so in the series after. The premise and world it takes place in are unique, in a way that reminds me of Garth Nix's Abhorsen series. That being said, the stories themselves aren't similar. I read this book because it was made into a movie (which was terrible), and this book is a pretty light read (provided you like your light reads a little dark.) I definitely recommend it, but I'd also recommend getting the next few ones in the series from the library if you can; buying the entire series would be somewhat expensive considering how fast they read and how many are in the series (eight in series, plus 2 in-world off-shoots).

I watched the movie and it was Ok, although the bad acting (not Jeff Bridges, the apprentice), so I decided to give a try on the book. The plot is completely different from the movie and it is much better. It is a book for young readers, but it very well written, the characters are very consistent and you can almost believe in the story. I hope the other books in the series are as good as these first volumes.

This is the first two books of the series. The books are both excellent. the books have the same characters, but some are much different than the movie. The books are very different than the movie but as I said they are very good.

I have been eye balling this series for some time and finally decided to start it up. Book 1 was good after about half way through then it pick up and grabbed my attention. Book 2 was much better than book 1 with more action and less slow points. Do wish that as the series continues tom become stronger and more skilled rather than relying on others or luck. Im about to dive into book 3.

Not sure where the "scary" part of these books are that everyone is talking about. Read them before I suggested them to you 11 year old daughter as she is very sensitive and I did not want to suggest she read something that would give her nightmares. They have an original cast of characters and keep your interest. I am going to the library to check out the next set as now I want to know what happens as well.

These stories are much better than the movie. I greatly enjoyed these first two stories. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. The story line is different than other books I have read with ghosts and other things and I find them unique and refreshing. The characters are well developed and the action pulls you in to continue reading. It is hard to put these stories down.

If you like fantasy, this book about spooks, witches and boggarts is a fun read. I enjoyed reading it and the characters are delightful.

apprenticed to the Spook, Thomas must learn to hunt down all the things that go bump in the night. most especially the truly frightening ones that steal your willpower and your life. Even the Spook isn't always strong enough to conquer what comes their way. but Thomas is a quick thinking lad, something he gets from his mother perhaps?

It was different and intriguing. Parts of the plot you were easily able to guess but it still made you want to continue reading. The ending was not anticipated and was very good. Each book is about 30-40% smaller than a regular book. So for the price you paid for these two books its about the same as a regular book. I purchased these two books because of the price because I thought it was a bit of bargain which it wasn't. I read it since they will be making a movie of these two books. In the trailers I recognize Tom the apprentice, the spook(mentor), and Alice the witch, but that's about all. Although I must admit the trailers are very brief, but knowing the story, the movie could be very exciting. Waiting to see the movie. I would recommend this two book package because the movies often skip through some very interesting detail that by having read the books will add to the movie.

Enjoyed the the characters, and the story.
