You can USE FOR A KIDNEY (RENAL) failing dog or cat or ferret without a VET!!
Never buy the one can, that is a huge ripoff, buy the 12. With any new food for a cat you must add it a bit at each feeding of their "normal" food till they get used to it. Without a long winded explanation this is a very good food for any carnivore. For K/D problems especially as it only has 0.60 phosphorus ! "Prescription" diet foods that MUST have a veterinary prescribe range from .40 to .70 roughly. And something like Friskies can have over 2.0 which is very bad for K/D animals. It also does not have flavor enhancers or lots of salt...so yeah it's bland compared to other pet "foods". This turkey stuff is about 1/3 the cost of veterinary foods. Think of this food as an unsalted baked potato chip, yes.. a nice crispy deep fried salty BBQ chip is a lot tastier, but not at all good for you. Do your research, you will see. P.S. Friskies (and others) for young healthy cats are fine, just as BBQ chips are fine for young healthy Humans. But If you have any kidney issues both are a huge no-no. I hope this helps.

DO NOT FEED THIS EXCLUSIVELY!
This is a high-quality food, but it's not "complete and balanced." It is purely the meat. You will do your pet HARM if you only feed him/her this food! Use it as a topper or in conjunction with a "complete and balanced" wet food.

Formula Change?
I ordered a case of the Turkey and could immediately tell the difference. It smells different, and looks different. I don't know if the formulas has changed, but something is very different about this food. I spent $41+ for this 12 can case that not one animal will eat. I usually purchase this from another online retailer for a lower price, but they were out of stock. Is this a Formula change, or has it been sitting in Amazon warehouse for too long. I have never written a bad review about a Wysong product, they are top shelf, but this completely failed.
