My son likes the different sizes each sponge can make. Comes with a sturdy piece of plastic between the sponges. His hair is perfect for the sponges because his hair coils up quickly naturally so using these gets him the results he wants faster. Literally with each rotation. One for the 1/2 pile...one for the 2/4 and 4/6 pile. great deal and if you want to pick out before or pick the roots and do a twist on top mix works good too.

The peanut shaped sponge:It twisted my hair into curls when it’s short and when longer, it made twisty curls. Hair must be wet, I used scalp oil and hair products. The curls were beautiful. Only problem I saw is a lot of curly gray hair is on the sponge. Maybe I’m bearing down too hard but having arthritis is difficult to keep my arm raised for long periods of time. I rinse the product out of the sponge and sit it on a towel to air dry The sponge is difficult to hold onto when using it on the back of my head. Maybe put some nibs on it or something to make it sturdier and easier to hold onto. I recommend this product. When my hair is cut very short, I still prefer this sponge. I don’t know what to do with the other sponges.

A friend sent me a video of a woman creating various hairstyles for short, coily-curled, natural hair. One clip showed her using a "curling sponge," which I was not familiar with. This is the SIMPLEST, EASIEST, QUICKEST way to transform a mini-fro into a "mini-twisted do!!!" All you do is pick your hair out, grab one of the curling sponges (depending on the length - or height - of your hair), and gently rub across your hair in a circular motion!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Where have you been all my life! THANK YOU!!!

Good for starter locs but after two week, the sponge starts to smell and if you wash it lightly with water and soap, the glue separate from the sponge and eventually becomes useless. I've resulted in just using my hand in circular motions to retain my curls, the sponge just didn't work out in the endgame for me. Got two weeks worth.

I don't have any experience with these things first time I grew my hair out and tried these. But it has turned out great so far! Also the Pick that came with it has come in handy aswell. Never used one before so it's been alot of firsts, but definitely not lasts!
