Greek Mythology: The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook by Liv Albert is handy guide to the major figures of the mythos for those interested in knowing who is who. Albert from the outset does not attempt to tackle every figure in Greek mythology or every myth, focusing on the most important and famous gods and heroes. With this in mind, Albert only focusing one story per entry, though many gods and/or heroes appear in multiple entries given their importance (i.e. Zeus in producing children and Hera going after them or their mothers). Except for individuals and events from The Iliad and The Odyssey, Albert retells the myths in a more balanced way most notably by calling out Zeus as a sexual deviant and Hera for her victim-blaming to name the two most prominent instances throughout multiple entries. Adding depth to the mythological retellings are roughly 25 illustrations by the amazingly talented Sara Richard whose art-deco influenced style gives the gods an ethereal appearance and mortals an unworldly quality. Greek Mythology is a fantastic introductory book for those interested in the mythos of the ancient Greeks thanks to Liv Albert’s writing and Sara Richard’s art Review: Very nice hardback book - Purchased as a birthday gift for our 10 year old grandson. He loved it. The book is filled with interesting facts and great graphics.

A Well-Written, Wonderfully Illustrated Introductory Book

Book amazing, shipping not so much
This book looks amazing! I love the art! I wish there were more pictures! Even if it's not a full page, it would be nice to have a small image of each god or character! I read a few character blurbs. It's definitely a good book to start learning about Greek myths. The book is 5 stars! The shipping, however, was subpar. It came very quickly, but came damaged. It was thrown into a box with one of those air cushion things. The top corner of the book by the spine was crushed in a bit. It's fine, but annoying. I gave this 4 stars only because I received it damaged. That's nothing against the product, more how Amazon ships it. It shouldn't be loose in the box. It should be in a sorter box or be wrapped to protect it from damaged.

It’s a hit
My ten year old loves this book. She is very interested in the Greek Gods and has fun reading and learning with her friends. Lots of stories about a lot of characters. Easy for her to navigate on her own.

A new favorite
I pre ordered this book FOREVER ago. It finally arrived. I devoured it like a starving animal. First, I am a HUGE fan of Liv's "Lets Talk About Myths, Baby" podcast. Love Liv's charming, fast talking, feminist, funny point of view of many Roman and Greek mythology characters. Her story telling does not leave you bored and uninterested. This book carries on similarly. Its beautiful in illustrations. Loved all the colors and art work. The book is a manual of who is who and what is what that any beginner would appreciate. Its easy to follow, organized and the description of loving legends doesn't leave the reader disappointed. Liv delivers her funny, interesting descriptions of characters to a delightful read. Not boring. What's better? She even inserts at the end more titles to continue your obsession of Greek and Roman mythology. Loved this book. Solid thumbs up and nerdy high five to Live.

This book is a waste of money for the price. The stories (if you could call them like that) are so short and so badly explained, it's like if I was reading a book written by a kid in a hurry. Also, I feel the book is a little to much feminist, I wouldn't have a problem whit that, but the autor remarks almost in every page that feminist side, it's a little annoying. I think this book was a really waste of money, if you're looking for a good mythology book go for Edith Hamilton's one, or even Stephen Fry's.

I recently delved into the captivating world of Greek mythology with this gem of a book, and it exceeded all my expectations. First and foremost, let's talk about the cover, absolutely stunning! The artwork is not only visually striking but also perfectly sets the tone for the mythical journey that awaits within. The wealth of information contained in these pages is nothing short of impressive. The author skillfully weaves together the rich tapestry of Greek mythology, presenting it in a way that is both accessible and engrossing. All in all, this Greek mythology book is a masterpiece. The beautiful cover draws you in, and the content is really interesting. Whether you're a seasoned mythology enthusiast or a newcomer to the world of gods and goddesses, this book is a must-have for your collection. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase!
