I had looked at the wood board with colored rubber balls. It looks pleasing to the eye. But reviews had said the balls roll and you lose one, the game isn't good any longer. That could happen very easily. This one is self contained. I'm very happy with that! You get one extra piece of each number! That's very nice. Pieces are a good size to pick up. Not too small and yet small enough for travel. I love this game and thought adding color could be something new. I haven't really tried the color way. (Which is the only way to play the one with colored balls.) I just received it today and tend to look at the numbers. I think my brain will start seeing the color and can play it that way. The tiles having red number on the side that starts the game and the other side, being the ones you pick, is a nice way to go. Smart design. The only difference between the book and this is having to set it up. But the plus is more than one person can play at the same time. That's fun, too. Some layouts come with it. But as another review said, keep your old books. I did, knowing I was going to buy this. I'm pleased with the quality. I can see this lasting years/decades! I would recommended this game for Sudoku lovers and anyone thinking about trying it.

I’ve been a Suzuko addict for 15 years. This is the first time I’ve ever used anything but paper and pen and I love it. The tactile feel as well as the color for each different number. I find challenging and I actually feel my brain working in different ways. The only reason I’m not giving a five star is that I wish that this placement squares were a little wider. Here’s why: Each number block has one side red and one side black. I placed the black side up when it feels certain to me that’s the space. When there are two choices, I stand up the pieces in the space with the red facing forward.. my comment is that when there are two numbers for a space, the cut out space is not quite big enough to put two blocks. I would appreciate the board squares being large enough to accommodate two square pieces.. This is my only slightly negative comment. Otherwise, this puzzle is so much fun. It is beautifully made. The pieces in the box are just fantastic and if you’ve only been a paper Suzuko player, I encourage you to give us a try.

My daughter learned about sodoku and fell in love. This is her car travel game. She tries to see how many easy, medium or hard ones she can do in the time we have for a drive. Educational and fun! Different color pieces are great because it allows different methods of play numbers vs color

Love this product! As a fan of Sudoku games the colors add a new dimension as you can see at a glance what numbers are needed. I looked online at several and decided on this and I'm not disappointed. I was thinking I might want a little larger but this is a perfect size to hold in your lap if you want. With both red and black numerals you use one for the given numbers and the other for your guesses. Where you see I have stacked some on edge that is where I'm deciding between two numbers. Only thing that would make this a little better is if the pieces were slightly thinner so that two would fit in the square on edge. I would highly recommend!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my teens. It does take a few minutes to set up a a game, which they are unlikely to do. but if I do it, they will get off their electronics and play it together and have fun doing it. The higher levels occupy them for quite awhile. It’s high quality and was worth the money. I feel something we will have for a long time.
