Return of the Padawan (Star Wars: Jedi Academy #2)

This is the sequel to Jedi Academy. If you read the first book, you are already in familiar territory. However, Jeffrey Brown up is game on this sequel. Besides putting a smile on my face, his book captured my attention to the point I couldn't put it down once I was by the middle of it. Who could have thought that you could have intrigue in middle school even in the Star War universe?In this book, Brown tells us what happen to Roan on his second year in the Jedi Academy. As in the first installment, this book is written in the fashion of a black and white comic book with interlaced pages from Roan's personal diary to give us an insight to Roan's mind and other notes such as letters and pages from the Padawan Observer to flesh out the Roan's world.This kind of story works because even as it happens in the Star Wars Universe, because Brown makes Roan's troubles in Jedi Academy relatable. I was half way this book, having my chuckles and smiles, thinking that this is the kind of book you can easily put down. Then a twist happened, one that I could see building up for a few pages. Just a few more pages, I thought. No easy resolution in sight, even worst, things got complicated. Ok, maybe a few more. This book was supposed to be just fun and relaxing read, but I was so vested on Roan that I have to know what was going to happen at the end.The good thing is that it is only 176 pages long, so I was able to finish it in a few hours. The bad thing is that it is only 176 pages long and I finished it in a few hours. So I could easily recommend this book for Star Wars fans and, frankly, for anyone who wants a chuckle with a good and simple story. On top of that, this is a book that you could easily pass to your little ones as they start to read. Another great introduction to comic books and Star Wars, with a great morale too.

This is just what he needed. He grumbled when asked to read. But he is a Star Wars fan and this book caught his interest. So well written for 3rd -4th grader , he read every chance he had and enjoyed the book so much, he shared favorite parts with his dad. He finished the 2nd book and is waiting forward to the 3rd.

These books are phenomenal for the 6-10 range. They’re funny but avoid typical “potty humor” that is so often seen. Their story lines are fairly in depth and well thought out. They have many points throughout the book that your kiddo will actually learn something, which I love. Brown does a great job tying in all the great elements of a good children’s book and wrapping them into these masterpieces. Plus, if you love Star Wars, you’ll love these books!!!

My 9-year-old was ecstatic when we received this book, he read it through really quickly, then immediately started it over and read it twice within an hour. That is as still as he has been in a while. We received a free digital copy, but decided to go buy a real copy, because he wanted to take the book to school. So for a few weeks, he read this over, and over again. However, he did say that this book was not as good as the first, and he had higher expectations for it. I do like this series and as a parent a book that is at an appropriate age level, that is an appropriate topic, and gets your children reading, then it's a win. This book deals with real life issues that children live in, bullies, miscommunication, teacher troubles, and the importance of being a good friend. It's a fantastic series and look forward to more.

My kids and I loved this book, what a fun experience to share together! Star Wars, comedy, reading together as a family, what's not to love? The best part are Mr. Brown's encouraging of kids to keep a journal and how to have fun with it. My 7 year old was inspired to bug the life out of me until I bought him a journal and to my surprise it has been one of his prize possessions, even more so than the expensive Star Wars Lego sets.I imagine if you are reading this review you have already read the first book, don't hesitate, this one picks up right where the first left off. The lessons and the characters make for a great story, looking forward to the release of the 3rd book and so are my children!

I bought this for my 7yo. She's a marginal Star Wars fan, but loves comic books. At first, she wasn't too impressed with it. I think I enjoyed reading it more than she did, but after a few months, she's taken to it. She enjoys the humor and has begun talking about the book with her friends. Maybe I should have waited until she was a year older to buy this for her, but it's a fun book all the same.

My 9 year old son read the first 3 books of this series in just 2 days. He absolutely loved them. I highly recommend them. I went ahead and bought the rest of the series, although those are written by another author... I'll review those as well.

I’m reviewing “Return of the Padawan”. It came in perfect condition. Reading isn’t my son’s favorite subject but this book/series motivates him to read and he really likes the style. Good book!

Excelente producto por el precio que lo adquirí de aprox 120. lo venía siguinedo y cuando lo vi en ese precio lo adquirí. Viene en inglés y sin sellar pero no llegó maltratado. Muy buen producto con pasta dura.
