Please, also look at the pictures of the whistle package I uploaded. Many of my comments are repeated in the notes to the photos.The first thing I noticed, when I looked at the whistle package, was that it has warnings all over it about the whistle being extremely loud. However, the whistle has quite a wide range of volume: if one blows into it slightly it is not loud, if you blow into it with medium strength - it is very loud (my ears rang for 5-10 seconds after that). I did not risk blowing the whistle full strength with my ears uncovered, but with covered ears there was certainly no danger at all to my hearing.The package also says that the whistle is waterproof and works underwater - I did not try that. Maybe the feature could be useful if you do scuba diving, and some shark starts chewing on your leg, you could try to scare it away or to whistle for help...On my photos I put a penny next to the package to show the size of the whistle. Some people wrote that it is very big, but it looks like a quite normal size whistle in real life. If you have small hands, then the whistle has size of about the width of your palm.The sticker on the front of the package I received says that the whistle is orange (what this page says as well and what I ordered) but it actually came in black. The back side of the package had an other sticker stating the correct color of the whistle.There is a ring attached to the whistle in case you want to carry it on your neck or on your key ring.And finally, the whistle is very light - it certainly would not add any weight to your backpack or purse.Very nice product!!!

The company advertises this whistle as the loudest in the world; after purchasing these whistles, I might just beleive them.These whistles have an extremely high frequency screach (3150 hertz) that will undoubtedly make your ears ring. They are said to be able to be heard from 50 underwater and are 75% louder than any other safety whistle on the market. The focused 3150 hertz sound produced was found to be the most easily heard frequency in scientific tests. It is also between 118 and 120 decibles, abnoxiusly loud. They are made in the USA and, in my opinion, are an excellent value. After researching this product, I found that a lot of testing and research went into the development of these whistles, a comforting idea to consider when paying for any product that has to do with safety.One downside to these whistles are the size as they are definitely larger than your average fox40. However, what it lacks in compactability, it makes up for in function. Personally, I got these for camping to carry when on hikes and what not, just as a precaution. However, you can get creative with them and put them to any use you see fit. Its very loud. I didnot try it underwater though. Will use it for kids during our walk in the woods.

WOW! Be very careful if you blow in this whistle - never be close to someone else. It is LOUD! Plastic, huge whistle. Does what it is supposed to. Quick and good shipping.

After reading many whistle reviews on Amazon and other sites, I bought several different highly rated (by their reviewers) whistles. Conducting my own tests, with a friend with good hearing (mine isn't so great anymore), at a distance of about 4 city blocks and in open, flat country, the Storm whistle was the loudest (and largest), and the Wind Storm 2nd loudest (and 2nd largest) of ALL the whistles, AND they did not require as hard a blow to achieve their loudness as compared to the other whistles. This was important to me, in case I was injured and unable to blow very hard. They are the largest of all of the whistles, which is both a Pro, and a Con, depending on your point of view. But their size makes them easy for me to locate and hold, so I consider their size to be a Pro. The 3rd loudest whistle I tested, which was also the loudest small whistle, was the Acme 636 Safety Whistle.UPDATE: I need to say that over the years my high range hearing has been damaged to the point where it no longer exists. Whistles that I rate poorly MAY be loud to people with full range hearing, but the whistles I rate highly all have a lower frequency which I can easily hear. Something to think about; hunters and other people who have been exposed to very loud noises, like gunshots, may have damaged high range hearing, and may not hear your high pitched whistle. Whereas pretty much everybody can hear a lower pitched / lower frequency whistle. Plus, if I'm injured (think of a fall resulting in broken ribs), I will not be able to give my whistle a hard blow, so for me to rate it highly it must be LOUD without having to blow it hard.

The seller did everything right, it took a while to get to me but that was due to the shipping company and not the seller. But I was thinking I bought the storm whistle and not the windstorm whistle. A simple mistake but that's why I gave a 3 star. Also that is more my mistake than yours

El sonido que tiene este silbado es bastante fuerte, lo recomiendo para senderistas, excursiones al cerro en donde lo puedas usar en caso de querer ahuyentar algún animal o para hacer algún llamado a otras personas. El alcance es bastante. Al usarlo entre mas soples mas fuerte se va a oír, pero si lo haces al máximo te recomiendo tapar tus oídos para no lastimarte ya que es bastante fuerte el sonido. Sirve incluso bajo agua. el tamaño es algo grande pero sigue siendo fácil de transportar o colgar en tu cuello con la correa que trae. En mi caso la presentación llego empacado en una bolsa. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para aquellas personas que gustan ir a la naturaleza. Me gusto la compra.

I was looking for good whistle for an EDC pack and almost went with a popluar brand out there that was supposed to be the loudest. Then, I stumbled upon the Storm whistle....and it does everything they claim. Defiinitely loud as claimed. Also, although it doesn't look the part, it's been designed very well; it will work when wet or even under water. The added bonus is that unlike most stuff nowadays, it's made in the US. Anyone who hikes, camps, climbs etc., needs one of these in their pack.
