Wilfred: The Complete Series

Superior to the U.S. version
We bought this two-season set of the Australian original Wilfred, based on enjoying the later U.S. version. I have to say the Aussie show is better in every way: More complex characters, better stories, uninhibited comedy, rough language, etc. Wilfred encounters a lot of other animals in this series, usually human actors dressed in suits as dogs, possums, cats, birds. It's a very black comedy, and the American version is quite watered-down by comparison. If you liked the U.S. show, you probably will love this more.

Wacky fun
This contains the full two seasons of the Australian version of Wilfred. I liked this much better than the American version. The guy who plays Adam was very funny. Also i liked that all the animals were played by people in suits. This is a wacky, weird, and fun show. The ending to the series was just hysterical. I highly recommend this series.

Not living up to the hype of the U.S. version or the other reviews
If you're expecting a well crafted story with clear intentions, then you won't find it. The original Australian version is more like a compilation of episodes that loosely follow a story that you could probably infer from the very start. Boy meets girl, dog messes with man, and man messes with dog. The episode previews are inaccurate. We see the classic Wilfred stealing weed plants, and planting the wallet beneath the window, but this scene in the episode preview never actually happens. They steal plants.... and that's it. Nothing else happens with the wallet thing. It seems like the U.S. show definitely references the original for some scenes, but the story is not even remotely similar. Lastly I'll give you a fair warning about the ending. The show abruptly ends with the final episode of season 2 without any real meaningful send off. I actually think the story in this could have been great, but unfortunately we likely won't see a better remake of it any time soon. Do I regret the purchase? The price was fair for what I got, but it's clear that this was closer to a draft for a show that ultimately never happened than a real show.

Not the American version
Realized upon arrival that this was a Australian version. Was expecting the American version. Felt a bit cheated due to the fact that I ordered this and did not end up with what I thought I was purchasing. But it is the internet and first looks can be deceiving.

Bad DVD Case
The media could not be loaded. I bought this twice in hopes I’d get a set that wasn’t broken/scratched. Both came just the same loose discs with broken pieces of plastic inside. DVDs were scratched upon arrival. You can see in my video that the clips don’t even hold the disc in place.

If you loved the FX series of the same name!
Great cast and mostly funny episodes, the camera work is terrible. The D.P. was a terrible choice. But all together. A great price and worth the shipping. I'd suggest you buy it if you loved the FX series with the same name. Australian humor is very much as dry and witty as British comedies. But it has several gut splitting moments, and countless hours if entertainment.

Refreshing
Though both the Australian original and American FX remake share the same title and character they are vastly different. Where America needs a heap of filler characters, exposition and tamer jokes the original shines in brevity with straightforward, dry humor. It's a must watch for any fan of the remake, yet stands far enough apart from it that anyone with a darker sense of humor can enjoy it even more.

Bad Doggie
Somewhat darker than the "new, improved American" Wilfred, but all the funnier for it. Takes a few episodes to really get into it, but once you do, you will appreciate the rougher edginess of this original Wilfred.
