Thunderpole 5/8 Wave | CB Radio Aerial 26-30 MHz AM/FM/SSB Home Base Station Antenna

Seems to be okay happy with the build good for the money would recommend.

The sections do have marks for "a CB band", but there are multiple bands in the range 26MHz to 30MHz, so check with an SWR meter and low power. I replaced the screw hose clips with thumb operated ones for transportable use. It works in a lay-by clamped to tow ring, or at an apartment clamped and earthed to the metal balcony railing. These can be used on 1.8MHz to 70MHz if the bottom black plastic three screws removed and the earth wire of matching coil cut, or if the coil is bypassed entirely. Then an ATU or auto ATU can be used to match, though some bands need the length adjusted. Extending to 3100mm by adding a top rod makes a 3/4 wave at 70 MHz (4m), but length may need reduced at 50 MHz to avoid 1/2 wave, unless a suitable matching coil is added in the base. So use as is on 11m or 10m, but radial guy wires may be needed if it is on a tall pole on a roof. Should be disconnected from radio when not in use, as is the case with all tall verticals. The design seems little changed in 20+ years, because it's simple and effective.

Seems to be a decent aerial for the money, however, I do believe in this day and age, the fixings. I.e. Jubilee clips seem to be a little bit primitive. And there seems to be if I’m not mistaken a couple of pot rivets missing from the base of the aerial see picture in closed, also you would think that the top of the aerial would come with the red plastic stopper would be prefixed as I had to glue mine in with some silicon to stop it dropping out .
